Can anyone help me with pairing my watch 7 to an external heart rate chest strap please.

I have been through the Samsung health app and the chest strap is showing as registered but not connected.

I have tried a few activities to see if it auto connects but so far I can not get it to connect

Thank you

Shaun

I know that Watch Ultra does not pair to an external HR monitor . As the watch 7 uses the same chip set. I suspect it is too non compatible to chest HR monitor. However the recent reviews on line review; it seems the new the 7 series watch are quite close to Garmin being as the gold standard . Please link below. Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with the you tuber. I just stumbled upon the review today. https://youtu.be/dIOPZw0nI9c?si=nDEZF-4F2f8CaEF-

Oh ..the you tuber was wearing a Garmin watch + chest HR monitor and Samsung Galaxy Ultra watch. So the results were quite close unless you are an ultra athlete. Give and take . Samsung had done well with the Galaxy 7 watch series.

Thank you for  this reply,  its a surprise that a watch of this level does not connect to a chest strap.

I purchased it with the intention of swapping over from my Garmin Fenix but I need the accuracy of a chest strap for my sports / training.

I guess I will be returning it

Maybe it's worthwhile considering wearing the watch 7 and Garmin fenix simultaneously for a short period. I have worn the watch ultra and compared it with my Fenix 6 pro. In terms of steps, stairs , heart rate, calories and GPS tracking. It's fairly compatible. Give and take. I dont use the body battery function. Some of the useful extras that the Samsung watch offer are the ability to answer calls using your watch and it's quite good on clarity, make phone calls , short texts replies and this inc what's app, sleep monitoring and NFC payment with Amex. My Garmin Fenix 6 pro will not register Amex. It's weighing the pros and cons, if you need the smart features then its Samsung. Most reviewers were of the consensus for athletes, long distance running, extreme sports inc altitudes. These activities will favour the Garmin as the battery durability out performs the Samsung watch. Yes, i agree with your comment that such an expensive watch does not have an option for chest HR monitoring was indeed disappointing.

I'm more than likely will be returning my white ultra when it gets delivered as I wanted to pair my H10 strap to it and looks like I'm going to go with a garmin forerunner 965. My gw4c I got the other week is trash for HR. Literally will blink and stay at the same hr during weight lifting EVERYTIME. the whole point of getting this watch was so I didn't have to bring my phone.. or use my phone to see the HR from the strap.

I am pretty much of the sme mind mate.

I compete in paracanoe and my training is very technical and relies heavily on accurate heart rate zones and tempo.

I have tested the ultra watch and unfortunately the heart rate sensor in not up to the challenge

People say it use to work with a strap, the gw5c until a update. Which is BS. And if that's true then a simple update would fix this.. if I didn't get a discount for trade in I would of never got the ultra it would have been the 965. Debating to get the 965 when my ultra comes for side to side comparison and return the one that I don't like and I already think it's going be the ultra going. Or I might just return it and wait for black Friday/cyber Monday for a sale on the 965 before trying it. Really sucks samsung dropped the ball here and at its Rediculous price it should have a pairing option for a strap.

Yeah they dropped the ball on this one.

I have been using the Garmin Fenix 6 Pro for a year or so now and I was planning on swapping it out for this one but the external heart rate strap compatability has killed its usage for me

Same here. Bought the Galaxy Watch 7 to use it with the H10 as a display for accurate HR and Spotify player, so I don’t have to take my phone with me. I had a talk with the Samsung Support. Apparently they are aware of this problem, they had quite a lot of tickets. They received an answer from the Watch Developers which basically stated „our Watch uses it’s own sensor“ that’s about it. BS if you ask me. No Problem with the Apple Watch btw. I asked the Polar Support as well, they said the strap requires a device with Bluetooth 4.0. The Galaxy Watch 7 and Ultra have 5.3. It’s completely by choice. Ridiculous for a 700€ SMARTWatch. Similar stupid Situation as the lack of aptx adaptive on a S24 Ultra.
