Can anyone help me with pairing my watch 7 to an external heart rate chest strap please.

I have been through the Samsung health app and the chest strap is showing as registered but not connected.

I have tried a few activities to see if it auto connects but so far I can not get it to connect

Thank you

Shaun

I might have to add that it seems like multiple wear OS watches if not all, are non compatible with a Chest strap which doesn’t make any sense. I’m a happy Samsung customer and own multiple devices for a decade, but those two Problems are just annoying. They could’ve solved them by tomorrow if they want to XD.

I can't believe this is till the case... Come on Samsung! Please just add external heart rate monitor (HRM) pairing to the wearOS Samsung Health app...

It is supported on the mobile app, just add the functionality to the wearOS app and allow users to choose between using the built in HRM vs pairing with an external HRM....

This is a massive limitation for fitness users.

Trying to understand if a future software update could be a quick fix for this soon?

Samsung, please fix this issue on your Galaxy watch range. The inbuilt HRM is nowhere near accurate at heart rates above approximately 80 and therefore cannot be used for any serious monitoring of HR.

Apple watch allows the use of an external HRM strap, as do some Amazfit watches. Samsung needs to get serious and provide an update to allow this feature. It's beyond ridiculous that it's not available.

Fully support what is said above. Samsung has finally made a nice watch (Ultra). But the fact that it doesn't support external heart rate monitors is just weird. I'm about to switch from Samsung full ecosystem for this reason.

The fact that there are no hardware limitations, and external sensors were previously supported, it would appear samsung are purposefully blocking compatibility. This really smells of anti competitive behaviour. It would not surprise me if samsung release their own chest strap to capitalise.

So this kind of led me away from Samsung for the first time since the S6.  I've always had Samsung phones as they were the "go to" in the battle against Apple. A product and a company that I just can't stand.

Because it seems to be just a software issue preventing the external heart rate strap being connected I felt a little cheated, this feels very much like an Apple way of business. especially for the cost of the watch. So I've sold mine on and purchased a Garmin. Amazing bit of kit....

I started looking at other phones as well and for the first time in year purchased something other than a Samsung. I went for the pixel 9. Also a decision I'm very happy with

All of this because I went down a rabbit hole after trying a Samsung watch for the first time

I've been keeping track of Samsung now since 2018 and I don't even think they read these forums... Never received any feedback from Samsung with regards to these types. Of queries.... It's very frustrating. I'm also trying to thinking of ditching the Samsung watch and going for something that allows for external heart rate monitors

  • Sportwerks and Gear Tracker II apps allow the use or external HRM. I use Sportwerks with my H10 polar chest strap on my Galaxy watch ultra. It syncs with strava which syncs with Samsung health.

Now in winter I like to wear the watch over my sleeve. I just connect it to the hr sensor and I can see the exercise I'm doing. With the Samsung galaxy watch ultra this is simply not possible. I really wonder why Samsung doesn't give this feature to its watches.
