Galaxy Watch 01AE movement sensor bugging

I recently started using the Galaxy Watch 01AE i bought ages ago , it was left in its box until a couple days ago , at first it was working perfectly fine until yesterday , the watch kept adding to my steps when i was behind a desk or not moving and the manual HR and stress measurement kept telling me to stay still when im not even moving.

Is there any solutions to it? The continuous and every 10 minutes check works fine.

The watch is running Tizen  5.5.0.2 with One UI 2.0

Thank you.

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community!

That watch is almost 7 years old—which is quite impressive, but IMO it may be time to upgrade if possible. Being "left in a box" for a long time can cause issues—mainly with the battery.

The only suggestion I could offer is to factory reset the device, make sure it is as updated as possible, and see if it works.

I concur with John above. The issue with a device of this age is it is a few years out of support and software.

Factory reset could help. But worth considering an upgrade.

@K6ur6shh2: I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing these issues with your Galaxy Watch. Where the step tracker is concerned, arm movement is used as part of the tracking, so this might explain why the count is increasing despite you being sat at a desk (as I presume you are not completely motionless).

To stop the automatic Stress and HR measurements, please follow the steps below.

Stress: Head to Samsung Health > Rotate the bezel clockwise to reach the Stress Tracker screen > Tap the 3 vertical dots > Use the bezel to highlight 'Auto stress settings' and disable the feature from here.

Heart Rate: Head to Samsung Health > Heart Rate tracker > Tap the 3 vertical dots > Auto HR settings > Never.

Please note that if the Heart Rate tracker is set to 'Frequent' then the Galaxy Watch will attempt to measure your heart rate at an interval of 10 minutes when you do not move. This may be why you are being prompted to sit still.

Yeah , the battery is slightly degreaded but it still lasts a full 24 hours for me , ill consider a Factory reset to see if it helps.

Thank you.

Yeah , but i dont think it would get 2000 steps for sitting behind a desk , especially when its less than 2 hours.

I tried the factory reset , at first it was working but then same problem occurred again.

Yeah, so maybe it seems like a hardware issue now. Normally, it would be suggested to get it looked at, but that may cost more than it's worth.
