Chip/damage or a purpose hole?

Bought my wife a watch4 44mm for Xmas....just put it on charge for her and found what looks to me like a chip/damage on the ceramic backing...

She seems to think it has always been there and presumed it was a hole...I have a watch4 classic 46mm and there is no hole!

Is this damage/faulty or normal?! If you have one, be greatful if you could check!

Near the end of the article is a photo of the back of the watch. There looks to be a notch in the same place although yours looks silver.

I have a hole that looks about the size of yours but mine is neat and round and doesn't look like its chipped at all.

So this IS supposed to be there, at least on the non-classic watch4, it's a pressure vent.... The classic does not have this same vent.
