Virgin Media connection issue

Hi, looking for some help. Set up my Crystal UHD 8 Series Tv first time and everything was working great. I had to reset the tv following a different issue and was speaking to an on line advisor. He told me to reset my tv which i duly did. However now my tv wont recognise my virgin box in hdmi 1 and the smart remote wont work for the virgin box. It was working great until I reset it. The samsung ‘advisor’ told me ‘that the moment the tv detects that the external device is not compliant with the HDMI-CEC feature, it stops’.... is this correct? By resetting my TV it cannot recognise the HDMI connection? I dont understand how it could first time i connected it but not now? Does anyone have any advice how to do this? Swap HDMIs over? Reboot my virgin media box? It seems strange how it worked first time but a simple reset causes this issue. Any advice gratefully received.

Any chance to reset both ? ...and try again setting up with the "universal remote" option ?

Do you mean reboot my virgin media TiVo box and then reset the tv? Or can you do it just with the universal remote option? It just doesn’t seem to recognise what’s in the HDMI port now. Apologies, I am a bit technically inept but should I reboot my TiVo and then plug it into HDMI or try and do everything from universal remote? When I reset the tv I set up the remote so should I just skip that section until I get the universal remote option? Any advice appreciated 👍🏻

I was thinking you need to reset TV first , complete the TV setup without the Virgin box connected, then try again connecting the Virgin box . If it's still not working, reset the Virgin box and try setting it up this time through the "universal remote " option I've showed you.

Ok thanks, I will give that a try. The reason I contacted support in the first place is that I was getting strange beeping sounds sporadically (like a notification sound) and the advisor told me to reset my tv. It’s still making the bleeping sound too so it didn’t even cure that issue 😂😂

Thank you so much that worked 👍🏻 Now I need to sort out the intermittent notification or beep sound i am getting sporadically but that can wait until tomorrow

I have it set up ok thanks to you. The original problem was I was getting Alexa notification tones through the tv (a two tone beeping noise). It was sporadic but noticeable. We bought a Alexa show device for the kitchen and we don’t know if it’s trying to ‘connect’ to that or why it has started. I noticed on the forum other people were having the issue. I have not sat down and used it properly since but that was the problem, an occasional beeping notification sound through the tv and was wondering how to stop it

Can you not turn off/ disable Alexa ? To be honest , i don't know why people would welcome into their home a non stop listening device 😃😃😃
