USB 3.1 to HDMI conversion cable on s8

Hi, I bought a USB to HDMI cable today for my Samsung s8 to watch movies from my phone onto the t.v. when I plug the hdmi into the back of the tv and my monitor nothing appears on the tv. Have tried all the different HDMI stations and it's not on any of them. Is there a settings or something on the phone that I need to turn on or something for it to work?

Hi @Mccabe96__. I can confirm that a USB-to-HDMI  cable wouldn't work for this with the S8, as that phone doesn't support MHL. Unsure which TV you have, but if you're able, you could try wireless screen mirroring through the Smart View app.
