Same thing with QN85b

Local dimming doesn't work after the 1651 update, the backlight is spread out, brightness is always at max and video content now has some weird pixelization effect, it looks like the upscaler is broken as well

Samsung doesn't even try to deal with a long-standing problem and offers to fix an expensive TV at my expense

And of course, technical support doesn't even tell me the approximate date of the next firmware release because it's "confidential data"

Hi a quick scout on av forums this is a common issue with this tv afraid, some panels are still having local dimming issues,

Have you tried the Samsung support facility on the tv itself where you allow them to log into the tv and they run tests.

Failing that might be either a repair shop or put up with the poor dimming.

Seems really strange they can get it so wrong when my q90t 65inch from 2020 is near perfect on local dimming now not sure what panel that used but I did get my set professionally calibrated when I brought it

I'm sorry to tell you, my warranty has expired

Even if i ask the original factory to do any replacement, there will be a cost.

So I only hope that the original firmware can be updated as soon as possible

But next time I don’t think I will choose a Samsung TV

I will also tell my relatives and friends about this issue, so that they can carefully evaluate whether they can bear such risks when choosing Samsung TVs.

Guys I am the one who posted the problem.
Fron my experience so far. Samsung service in my country (EU member) was a third party company which picked up my TV (QN85B) and replaced the motherboard so it can be downgraded to last working version. From that day until today I have NOT updated my TV ever again and everything seems to be working perfect! The TV is now 1.5 years old. I will not try to update or let it update by itself. From time to time it asked me to update but I did not and i will never update again as long as everything is working fine. I suggest you all do the same.
