We are so disappointed that after 1.5 years our  Samsung TV just stopped displaying (black screen) although still has sound. After doing some research we noticed if we held a torch up we could faintly see the screen therefore deducing it was a back light issue

It looks like this is a common fault in recent years and can be fixed if willing to pay another £250 depending fixes it or it's off to the tip. Given the first option is likely to happen again we thought we would give a good fixing it ourselves.

Has anyone attempted to fix by themselves and had any luck?

We just don't have that kind of money to chuck away after 1.5 years. Disappointed in Samsung as we have always bought their products and never had an issue but reading other reviews in this issue it seems to happen just outside if warranty. We were also told it was 2 years by Argos and stupid AI also sourced a link stating 2nd years however Samsung support directed to a link saying nope it's 12 months and basically tough.

Any advice would be grateful before it goes wrong and our TV ends up for good as a rage room item or down the tip 🤣🤣

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Forum

Sorry to hear of your issues.

Did you buy your device from Argos? If so as your contract is with them, you should contact them to arrange warranty claim etc

Hi @Notafan101  Welcome to the Samsung community :smiling-face:

Do you have documentation from Argos ,  certainly you could contact them regarding the warranty. sometimes Samsung offer extended 5 year warranties on certain models via registratration and Richer Sounds/John Lewis often have their own extended warranties.

if no satisfaction repairs would be chargeable.  There is the option of claiming under the consumer Rights Act 2015 but after six months the onus is  more on the consumer to prove there was a known fault at the time of purchase. https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/sale-of-goods-act-a4fvv5x8SaYa
