Hi!

I tried to do a firmware update on this TV, downloaded the latest software from the support site which was version 2010.0, released in 2020. I followed the instructions and extracted the files to an USB drive, but when I select update from USB on the TV with the drive connected it says it couldn't find any update files on it.

I tried copying the files to the root folder to no avail, also tried using a different USB port on the TV, but that didn't help either.

What else can I try?

The current firmware version of the TV is reported as 2009, so it's not that it already has this version.

Hi @Mumia76 Just checking that the USB DRIVE was formatted before extracting the file, there can be no other files on it.  you may well have followed the instructions correctly,  if it is an .exe file  you need to double click, select USB  stick as Destination folder and extract https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/tv-audio-video/how-do-i-update-the-software-on-my-samsung-smart-t...

sometimes the Support site firmware has a decimal point but the Tv information excludes this. (though it is 2010.0 on Support site)  Are you not able to update over the air either? It is a 2012 model though  and likely it will not last a great deal longer .

Thanks for the reply. The drive was formatted (ie. empty) but since there was no information on the support site what file system it should have I choose FAT32. Does it need something else perhaps?

I'm not sure what do you mean about the decimal point. Do I need to rename something? The TV says it's current firmware is 002009 to be exact.

No, OTA does not work, it throws an error suggesting to contact support with the error code: 800

Yes it should be the FAT32  format, I just meant that the Tv can roundup/down the software number (if there is a decimal point in it-may not be the situation in this case).  Sometimes  it can be the size of the  USB Drive, can be a issue with larger Drives on ocassions.   Support have in the past  sent Drives with the software but bear in mind that this is quite an old model.  Further information in this thread https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/tv/no-update-files-found-on-your-usb-device-samsung-smart-tv/td-...
