New firmware 1406.4 is out How to upgrade as I installed 1409 half a year ago !!!???
I used this link from the moderator and installed the intermediate version 1409. But now when the new version 1406.4 is out it turns out to be lower in number and can't be installed!? Samsung what to do, how to update to 1406.4 and fix the sound problems?

Hi all,
Sharing the official response on this one we received:
"We are aware of this unfortunate side effect of the software update T-MSLDEUC_1401.0 & T-MSMDEUC_1401.0, during HDMI switching Audio is forced back to TV Speakers.
We will rectify this problem when we make the next full update to the TV Firmware during 2023, but until then we can offer an interim firmware update available to download & update by USB using the following links
The firmware needs to be “Unzipped” before writing the root of a USB.
If you are unsure which Firmware you require, simply download, extract & write both to the root of a USB stick & the TV will update using the correct file.
Instructions on how to create the USB Update file can be found here:
Note: The supplied links mention 'PS42B450B1W', this is not a mistake & the correct update file is available at that location."

Hi @richardhxEU ,
The links above are for all affected UK and European TV sets. For folks who are from elsewhere it's best for them to get in touch with their local Samsung Support.

Hi guys,
Update on this one from my colleagues at Samsung UK TV/AV:
"We are aware that the recently released software update (T-MSLDEUC-1406.3 & T-MSMDEUC-1406.4) are not available for those customers who previously installed T-MSLDEUC-1409.0 & T-MSMDEUC-1409.0. A manual release has been made available to enable update to the latest version. We apologise for the inconvenience.
Link for models with MSMDEUC software:
Link for models with MSLDEUC software:
I've been advised that these should work for all relevant European models.
Downloading, extracting, writing and updating is the same procedure as the 1409 software, but just in case anyone needs the instructions again in this post:
The firmware needs to be “Unzipped” before writing the root of a USB.
If you are unsure which Firmware you require, simply download, extract & write both to the root of a USB stick & the TV will update using the correct file.

My TV is currently on version 1409 and when I insert a USB with version 1406.4 it sees the file but doesn't install it because it counts it as a downgrade

This is the problem that Samsung released an interim update 1409 almost a year ago to fix a sound problem, and now they release an update 1406.4 which of course is impossible to install !!!
