So i bought my kids a TV for their bedroom last Christmas and everything was cool - no issues at all.  I had Virgin Broadband at that time (I'm in the UK) and there were no problems at all.

Fast forward to a few months ago and I change our Broadband provider to Sky.  The living room TV (also a Samsung) is a wired connection so no issues, I connect the phones/tablets/laptops to Wifi and all are working fine apart from my kids TV.  I go through the setup process, as normal, the Sky Broadband network can be found, I input the password and the TV refuses to connect.  I can use the WPS button on the router to connect the TV and that works fine, but i have to do that every day which isnt ideal.  I have a Wifi booster in one of the other kids bedroom that the TV will connect to (same password ???) but the signal strength isnt great and keep dropping out....meanwhile the main network has full signal but the TV doesnt like it for some reason.

So why was there no issues with Virgin, but there is with Sky? Why does my TV see the network but will not connect? Why does the WPS button on the router work but i have to do that every day?

Please help?

This could be a router/modem issues as I am guessing the modem/router given are different? For each provider?

Yeah - both broadband providers have their own routers.

If it was a router issue though, how do all other Wifi appliances connect as normal but the TV wont?

I can't answer you, I am just guessing out loud

I have 5 TV in my office nothing has changed and they still work. Being that your TV started playing up after you switch router/modems that where I would guess the issue is. Also a WiFi extender isn't connecting to the router modem directly, the TV is connecting the the extender and the extender is the device connecting to the router

Yeah sorry buddy, didnt mean to be abrupt.  Its just a pain in the a$$ having to muck about with the TV pretty much every time the kids want to use it - and especially when the TV can see the router with full signal but simply wont connect.

Try connecting the problem TV using a extender and see if that works, then we k ow for sure it's most likely the router/modem

When you say extender, do you mean a Wifi booster? If so, i have one of those in the other kids bedroom so that their games / tvs work, but it has a bad signal in the 'problem tv' room and the signal drops out.............BUT.............it does work.  Maybe i need a stronger booster?

Hi @Paul S78   Whilst you may need a Booster just checking that you  have the latest firmware and are using WPA 2 security in your router settings .  some security information here https://www.avast.com/c-wep-vs-wpa-or-wpa2

You could also try a different wifi channel and split the 2.4 GHz/ 5 GHz,details here https://www.sky.com/business/help/articles/customer-hub-settings-freq-prefeb

Another idea is to change the DNS settings from Automatic to Manual and change it to    8.8.8.8  or  8.8.4.4   (the Google servers).  Go to  Network-Network Settings-DNS Settings.   There are also other alternatives such as Open DNS  .

Primary DNS server address: 208.67.222.222

Secondary DNS server address: 208.67.220.220  See more here: https://www.broadbandgenie.co.uk/broadband/help/best-free-public-DNS-server
