I just bought a Samsung QE43QN93CATXXU and am very disappointed to find that the time shift (to enable rewinding live TV) function has to be manually started every time you turn the TV on or change the channel. This makes it a useless feature as how do I know I may want to rewind live TV in the future, and to have to re-enable after every channel change is bonkers.
Can this be addressed in a firmware upgrade, if not I will have to return the TV it as its such a useful feature I had on my previous TV, and would be such a simple adjustment by Samsung. Other brands have this feature.

Yes, it works like that, but that's not the point, having to enable it every time is ludicrous, and not logical why Samsung would decide to set it up this way. Changing channel, or using the Guide cancels it, and you have to re-enable, which is not logical at all.
My 10 year old Panasonic works seamlessly with rewindng live TV, so if this cant be fixed I will be returning the TV to Costco as its unacceptable someone at Samsung decided this would be acceptable.

Any further update on this - I have also discovered you have the added inconvenience of every time you use the Guide, you get a warning message that this stops Timeshift, which has to be cleared. So accessing the guide requires 2 additional button presses, one to cancel the message, another to re-enable timeshift after exiting.
Who actually thought this would be a good system? Auto timeshift, ie always on would do away with the friction of turning it on, cancelling messages etc.
Please let me know if this will be addressed so I can decide whether to return the TV or not.

OK, looks like I am returning the TV given no response.
Shame as have been a Samsung TV customer for 15+ years, but illogical configuration of features like this devalues the experience massively - all for the sake of a factory configuration, so minimal cost

Samsung's timeshift functionality is a somewhat useless way, enabling timeshift manually every channel or content change on and on again.
A different and working method on my old LG Oled TV: attached a hdd on usb and enabled timeshift once. Timeshift was active all the time. Could be used anytime!
Very bad "feature" on samsung OS. And I agree with Justinos: timeshift could be such a comfort function, will lead me to a different tv brand next time, too.
