Well done Samsung (and Valve)! After making the xclud app exclusive for your brand and once the abk deal was done for Microsoft it's time to take away the competition, yes the Steam Link app will no longer be available on Samsung TV after November 30th 2023 and will be likely automatically uninstalled from our TVs just to mess with us consumers, better be prepared for antitrust and class actions cases for both the suspicious timing and for taking away an advertised TV feature

I finally got an Amazon TV Stick and an ethernet adapter (my wifi signal is weak in that place). After a couple of time searching and configuring the app I have to say Steam Link for Android works pretty well, so I'm satisfied with this change. Moreover I have some extra features. For example, I can view my IOS devices on the TV (AirPlay).

Now, I know this situation it's not only a Samsung's fault but hell... in the past I had another Samsung Smart TV and the YouTube app was removed as well. I use Steam Link a lot. Not just for gaming but also to streaming my whole PC. When I got this TV some years ago I had 2 options: Samsung and LG. I chose Samsung mostly because of the native Steam Link app but that's enough, I'm tired of losing features with the pass of time so my next choice won't be Samsung. That's for sure.

Anyway, Samsung users here you have an alternative. BTW, Black Friday is coming. Take advantage of it.

Btw, from spec I see that it works via WiFi, is it enough to have stable 4k picture in game?

It mostly depends of what kind of WIFI your router handles and the strength of signal you get in that place. The recent Fire TV Sticks come with with WIFI 6/6E but your router must support it. If don't or if the WIFI signal is weak I highly recommend using an ethernet adapter, not only for gaining speed (30 Mbps is enough for streaming up to 4K) but also for more stability.

Thank you for using the Steam Link app on Samsung Smart TVs. The app will be discontinued on Samsung Smart TVs as the corresponding app plugin will no longer be supported by Samsung. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to bringing you more exciting gaming updates in the near future.

Nobody is "understanding" of your anti-consumer antics, just annoyed.

I don't think there is understanding.

You have falsely advertised your products and people bought yours over competitors to then find that what they got was not fit for purpose. This will make customers think twice about picking Samsung TVs again as they can't trust Samsung to deliver what was promised.  I personally will stop providing advice to buy Samsung products.

Well it's happened. The app is no longer available 😞

I mean they could've just stopped updating it and leave the app as it is.
