We have a UE43TU8500UXXU Smart TV 43 inch. I find the smart hub extremely annoying and it appears randomly when not needed. For example some times when exiting the Guide it will appear and other times it does not. There is a Home button which can be used to open it when needed, and OK it opens when I hit Sources that's fine but why does it appear when it is patently not needed and when it does appear it stays on the screen and does not turn off unless I hit exit or return? This is extremely annoying and I should not be seeing this. I have checked and the TV is up to date with firmware. Please tell me there is a fix for this and yes I have turned off the option to show it at power on!

It matters not how I return from things like Guide the result is random, sometimes I see the Smart hub and sometimes I don't. There is zero consistency in how this works, completely unpredictable. There is a home button why does it have to appear so much, I am perfectly capable of hitting Home when I want to use it.

As for the Smart Remote I never use it and the only way to get rid of the annoying message is to connect it and then it goes away for sometime but always returns. I never use this remote and do not want to use it but I am unable to disable it in settings (that I've found). Why are these things so annoying? I simply do not want to use the ***** Smart Remote and want to disable it, is that too much to ask?

I have the same issue with a 2021 frame TV.

To reproduce: In live tv, select guide, select guide again (or back) to return to viewing and the hub pops up. Every time. If I select a channel from the guide the hub doesn't appear, but otherwise there's no way to exit the guide without bringing up the hub.

This briefly stopped happening for a period, and I thought maybe a software update had addressed it, but no such luck.

Yes exact same with the Serif. You click guide than guide again and the smart hub will appear, you click the exit or back button and smart hub will appear. The only time it doesn't appear is when you select a channel. It's annoying. Is this a bug or actually apart of the software?

Really quite frustrating.

I’ve got an 85” Q70A and the smart hub menu appearing after viewing the guide by not selecting anything in the guide is annoying.
I can easily get to the menu when I want it by pressing the menu button on the remote - I don’t need to have it appear every time.
can this be addressed in a firmware update and at least make it selectable as an option.

I have the same issue, just bought a new AU7100 58" and the smart hub popping up every time when exiting the guide menu is very annoying. I hope this is something that will be removed in a future update.

I actually find my old 2016 JU6000 40" smartTV a much better user experience, which is a shame really when a new TV capable of 4K should be considered an upgrade and not left feeling a little disappointed.

I'm 27 this year and I understand a lot of people want all these new features & technology from TV's nowadays, but there are also plenty of people that like to keep things simple whilst having a TV capable of 4k etc., so I don't see why there isn't options for turning certain features off or the ability to customise the user interface a little.

Unfortunately, I believe I know the reason the Smart Hub always pops up, and that is to show you the ads on the menu bar as much as possible. I upgraded to a knee Samsung because my previous set was a Samsung and I liked it, but these sorts of ‘features’ for long time users are kindve insulting, frankly. It’s enough that there are ads in the first place, but that they keep forcing the home bar on you is just plain rude. The only thing I’m learning is that in some instances (leaving Settings, leaving Ambient Mode, you have to get the habit of double tapping exit to be fully rid of it. Sure, I get that there’s ads, but it would be great if Samsung could the decency to address the persistent Smart Hub bar in an update. However, I have a feeling the situation is u fortunately contractual, and whoever buys those ads is guaranteed regular facetime through the persistent UI. Just terrible.

I agree with everyone else's sentiments regarding the smart hub.

I have a UE50TU8500UXXU and as others the smart hub appearing after exiting the guide no matter what button you press.

It also appears after exiting apps like Youtube or iPlayer. It appears after exiting the settings. What is really annoying is when watching an app, BT sports in my case if I press the settings button to change the picture mode, pressing the exit button not only exits the settings, it exits the app as well taking me back to TV with the home hub popping up again!

Another gripe is to use time shift to rewind live TV you have to enable the time shift manually every time you turn the TV on. If you watch an app or change to a different input, when you go back to TV again time shift has to be manually started again! With my last Panasonic TV and all of my freeview boxes timeshift started automatically when they were turned on and did not need to be enabled manually.

It's ridiculous. I bought this TV so I didn't need to turn on my Youview box meaning one less remote control as well and for the BT sports and Prime video apps. I now use the Youview box exclusively to watch TV. The only thing I use the TV for is Youtube, BT sports and Prime video.  If I knew how disjointed the way this TV operates I would of bought a different brand and a 4K Firestick for the apps.

On a side note. You can turn the adverts off if you don't want to see them.

I have exactly the same issue with the Smart hub randomly popping which is beyond annoying! I used to enjoy watching Samsung TVs but unfortunately this is the last one I will ever buy!

If I wanted Home hub I will press the button! This has been compounded with the new Smart TV interrupting my terrestrial TV viewing!! Took.my ages to find a way to disable it....in the end I had to delete it!!

If Samsung cared about its customers it would listen to them and find a way to stop the Smart hub appearing......it only does it on my most recent Samsung TV.

You are losing many very loyal consumers....I will even move back to Apple phones too!!

Funny how we are all going on an on about this and there is not a peep from Samsung about a fix.  I've had multiple TERRIBLE service experiences with them now and am rethinking my phone, tv and all of the rest of it.  I have disabled smart hub and no matter what I do there it is when I turn the TV on.  Disgusting that we have this ridiculous useless overlay (COVERING ROKU WHICH I ACTUALLY WANT TO USE!!) and have to use multiple remotes to deal with the display instead of Samsung just allowing us to have a simple TV experience.  Gross.

Folks, you all are beating a dead horse with this issue. I have the same problem. I believe it is intentional. Samsung wants owners see the sponsored ads that show up on the Smart hub screen. Instead of pressing the guide button to return to the program, press the select button on the program you are watching.
