GREAT NEWS GUYS !

I`ve been in touch with Nvidia technical support regarding the VRR issue with my Q800T and RTX 3090 on the HDMI 2.1 port,
They sent me hotfix drivers (that they released afterwards on 29/10/2020)
Nvidia driver version: 457.09

All of my VRR issues are now gone,  Game Mode and G-sync are working excellent now !!

Issue that I experienced in the spoiler below:

Spoiler
I have no clue why the mods DELETED my previous thread regarding this topic.

I`m owner of 75 inch Q800T and RTX 3090.

Long story short - Game Mode does not work with this GPU when using the HDMI 2.1 port of the TV (works only on the HDMI 2.0 ports)

Here is a video showcase of the problem:

This is terrible news!  I have a Series X coming next month and I got a Q80 specifically for the HDMI 2.1 port.  They now have less than a month to fix this!

I have similar issues with my RTX 3080 and my Samsung The Frame.

Your card might be assigning a color bitrate which is not compatible with your TV by default, probably 12 bits.

It does work with my HDMI 2.1 port and I can see it's now using the bandwith since I now have access to RGB 10 bit and 12 bit(this one is probably a bug since it's a 10 bit panel and 12 bit makes the TV go dark until I change ports).

However, there are some issues:

- The described above, 12 bit shows as an option and I get a black screen when chosen. It also defaults to this apparently.

- Random loss of image, fixed by removing the "Input enhacement" option for the port in the settings

- 10Bit RGB HDR looks washed and horrible. 8Bit RGB HDR does work beautifully, but this is something that applies to all ports. The point of HDMI 2.1 is to be able to enjoy 10Bit HDR.

- Freesync/VRR/Gsync is not showing up yet, even tho my model does have it and support it.

I also recommend you update your Nvidia drivers with a clean install, as they often mitigate some problems and RTX 3000 series is still a very new technology with tons of room for improvement via software. I'm unsure how much of the responsibility to fix these issues relies on Samsung and Nvidia respectively.

Well, I be damned. I bought a Q90T a couple of weeks ago after preordering an XBox Series X. I was considering the LG CX but went with Samsung because of longevity. I plan on using this TV for 10+ years (like the one it replaced). Samsung made it pretty clear that the Q90T would be a perfect match for the Series X but now I read that it in fact is not.
I'm new to samsung (and frankly new to TV's, as this is the second TV I've bought), but is it likely that they will fix these issues, as well as the issues with HDR and VRR not playing well together, or will they simply move on and fix these issues in upcoming models? How is their track record? I really should have researched this particular aspect before purchasing. Q90T and LG CX costs the same where I live and I am beginning to feel like a fool for trusting Samsungs marketing here.

Issue is not in the drivers, I`m with the latest version and latest windows updates.
Also did several clean re-installations.

I also have Samsung The Frame 2020 and GM works there without problems on the HDMI 2.1 port, also G-sync works on 4k@60hz  (but you need to activate Input Signal Plus for the option to appear).

I also managed to turn on Game Mode on my q800T after 20+ cable reconnections and TV restarts and I left it on, now I`m able to play at 8k@60hz in GM  it is amazing, however G-sync on my Q800T is not working good in 8k60 or 4k60hz (haven't tried lower resolutions) the image is flickering or completely freezing for long periods of time.

I`m semi-happy that I can use the GM at last, and kind of sad that the G-sync is working only on The Frame and not on my Kidney priced Q800T....

Hi you need to watch the latest video from stop the fomo. He clearly explains the problem with hdmi 2.1 and its to do with the chips inside the TV. And mostly the ones in the av Amps. Basically these chios can only accept hdmi 2.1 uncompressed and some amps and tvs the chip will only accept 2.1 compressed so not enough homework was done to make sure this standard worked. And yes to be honest it looks like 2022 will be the earliest that tvs and consoles and amp's will actually talk to each other and allow the modes promised by next generation consoles and graphics cards.

Takeaway from this is wait before rushing g out and getting tamhat new tv. Point is also that games exclusively using the higher frame rates are a year away on consoles they will just be internally upscaling games while the developers get used to the new hardware.

For once this is not Samsung fault
