Furthermore, are you doing this via the Facebook site on your mobile browser or via the app itself?

Thanks, @AdieDorset. Just to cover the first possibility, have you ensured that you're using the most up-to-date version of the Facebook app by checking for updates on the Google Play Store?
Also, have you tried restarting your phone and TV, and casting from the app again? Sometimes a restart is a great way to kickstart the connection.
