Good afternoon.
ive recently purchased a Q90T. I came from a 2015 Samsung which had no frame rate issues at all.
The Q90T is great in every way apart from when watching Freesat or Now TV. Both of these broadcast in 50hz/50p. So I assume it’s something to do with this frame rate.
what happens is that when there is a small amount of motion on screen such as an interview or no panning etc then the screen shows something similar to the frame rate dropping in half and everything stuttering. Once motion picks up or shot pans around then it goes back to normal.
I had all picture clarity settings set to off but I then played around with settings such as judder reduction and blur reduction etc to see if I could eliminate the stutter but nothing works.
its really bad watching football on free sat or now tv as it’s stutters quite a lot.
weirdly, not all programmes stutter. I’ve watched some catch up tv on now tv as well as movies and these show perfectly without any stuttering and all content on Netflix etc are all fine as well.
I am on the latest firmware.
any ideas if this is common or if there is a fix as nothing I’ve tried works.
thank you

Hi everyone, back in April last year I bought a tv for my new house that wasn’t ready however the tv was a very good deal. I bought the QE55Q85TATXXU model. It stayed in the box for a few months until the house was ready to move in, but when I received the tv I checked it for damage and turned it on but other than this I didn’t check anything else. Few months later after I moved in and after using the tv for a while I noticed there was some very annoying problem with the picture quality on fast paced videos. Instead of trying to explain exactly what is happening I will just upload two videos to see the problem for yourselves.
I contacted Samsung and they sent contractors to come have a look and as they didn’t notice anything wrong with the tv I showed them the videos and they said they will replace the main PCB. However is this doesn’t fix the problem I will need to contact Sky and request a new Sky Q receiver. I would appreciate any kind of information regarding the issue as I don’t even know whats actually wrong and not sure replacing the main PCB will fix it.

Hi Radoslav UK .... I've just viewed the two clips you uploaded on my PC as well as a Sony TV ... I can't see anything wrong with the clips and they play as they should, if you're holding out for a fix from Samsung because of juddering etc then you're wasting your time ... read through the previous posts, reject the TV as not being fit for purpose, it has an inherent fault that Samsung aren't even acknowledging. Rejecting is the route I went down and got a full refund ... I will not buy another Samsung product.

Hi Tomscarborough,
Thank you for the very quick response. If you watch the formula 1 video first three seconds you will see the screen and specifically the table there is a judder like and also on the football video the player in red (Jota) his face looks like is juddering as well. I’m not sure if its juddering what I have or something else but there is a serious problem with the picture on fast paced videos. I will have to check about rejecting the tv as I’ve had it now for a while and don’t know if they will accept the claim but I definitely won’t keep it if this doesn’t get fixed as it will damage my eyesight ling term with this problem.

Hi Radoslav UK ....
It sounds like you are experiencing the same issues with juddering as documented by everyone else on this forum. The clips you've uploaded aren't juddering on my PC or Sony TV and are playing without issues.
Look through the previous replies on this thread and reject the TV whilst you still can ... contact the retailer you bought it from and make your intentions crystal clear, if there is no joy contact your credit card company ... you may have to go through the small claims court but it is really not a big deal.

Noticed there was a new qn85a firmware (ver 1903.0) listed on the website for usb download. Anyone tested this yet?

Is this not just for the models after the 2020 series 🤷♂️

Hi Everyone,
Just a follow up in this. After pointless communication with Samsung in trying to find out whether there is a problem with the tv or not I decided to keep looking for different picture settings to try and see if this will make it better. I’m happy to say that I think I managed to get the best out of my tv after. I’m currently using the following settings:
I use standard for everyday programs and sport and movie for movies. I have to say that the juddering is reduced to an absolute minimum and its very very rare I experience it and its only when watching the sports channels, but its almost impossible to notice when it happens.

I have fixed this on 2 of my 3 2020 Samsung TVs.
On the 55", the motherboard failed and I bought a Sony 9505, with the XR processor.
The 65" was so bad a TV I traded it for a minor plumbing job. Bought a Sony A80J OLED which is fantastic (also XR).
The final TV is a rarely used 43". Despite a firmware update, the judder is terrible. In mostly static scenes, the scaler/processor instantly forgets it's a 50hz signal, and reverts to 60hz with stutter. Only with a pan does it switch back to 50hz. Makes 50hz viewing horrific.
Never going to make the Samsung TV mistake again.
