Hi,
I have had my QE43 TV for a couple of years now and for all this time it has demonstrated itself to be very unreliable at recording TV programs, I have a good quality, fast USB memory stick plugged in for this.
Sometimes it completely fails to record.
Sometimes it starts to record and then 10 seconds or so later a message pops up to say "recordings of less than 10 seconds are not saved", but I didn't do anything to request it to stop recording.
A few times it has started recording but it fails to stop at the end of the program and sometime later I check my "Recordings" page and I have a 6 or 8 hour recording on it, when the program I requested was only 2 hours.
It doesn't seem to matter whether it is a single recording or a series recording.
Does anyone else have similar issues?
I receive my broadcast TV from Sandy transmitter (UK), could it be the information being transmitted that gets lost or corrupted ? I don't really know how the TV knows when to start and stop recording but it does seem to know if the program schedule gets shifted so it's not just a built in clock.
Any thought would be gratefully received
PhilipJ

Hi @PhilipJ Whilst there could be signal issues causing problems as far as USB drives go Samsung tend to recommend hard drives with an external power supply and a maximum capacity of 2 TB and 5400 rpm. Whilst some customers have been fine with Memory sticks I imagine agents would likely stress this point. Anyway one recording guide here though may not particularly assist with your issue. https://www.samsung.com/au/support/tv-audio-video/set-up-and-record-live-tv/

Hi James.
thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I try to buy good quality, fast USB memory sticks for functions like these. In this case an Integral 128Gb USB3 device. When first used the TV asks to run a "verification" to determine that the stick is good and it passes this test.
I can try your suggestion of an external hard drive but for me that would be an unsatisfactory solution because I want the neatness of a USB stick with no trailing wires.
I personally think it is Samsung's poor implementation of USB - my TV has 2 USB ports and for interest I tried putting a memory stick in both of them, one for recording and the other with a few films on to watch. The TV does not always show them as present but if I fiddle with it, like unplugging and re-plugging one of them, then they both appear.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I don't think it is the broadcast signal, I have a separate Humax PVR running off the same aerial signal. As an experiment I setup to record the same things on both the TV and the PVR. The PVR never failed to record when the TV missed things.
How does one get a Samsung specialist on the phone ?

Hi thanks again for offering help.
I'm not sure what you mean by "the generic contact" ?
I tried a click on the "Contact Us" listed under "Support" but it is just a circular link back to the same page.
I tried a click on "TVs" listed under Product & Service" but that led to a page trying to sell me a new TV
I tried a click on the icon for "Technical product support" but that (after a few clicks) offered various issues for Warranty and Repairs and my issue is just a technical query that I can't necessarily call a fault.
Sorry if I am being dumb but is there just a phone number or email address ?
