Hi, i have a tv model UN55MU7000 and a soundbar HW-J250 conected via bluetooth. I can select the soundbar or the speakers in the tv, but not both of them.
In Menu > System > Accessibility > Multi-output Audio is greyed out. I can not select it.
How can i solve this? thanks.

I bought a Sony bluetooth headset just to do an experiment. After pairing the headphones with the Samsung TV, "multi audio output" turn black. After that turn on soundbar on optical cable. Surprise, the sound is heard simultaneously in the optical soundbar, Bluetooth headphones and TV speakers. All 3 simultaneously. If I turn off headphones, turn gray again. Why bluetooth headphones turn "multi audio output" from gray to black, but Bluetooth soundbar does not? I just want to use soundbar and TV speakers simultaneously. I hate Samsung firmware so much... sucks.
Let's both throw Samsung TVs out the window ... at the same time.

Thanks, thanks, thanks.
Stewie, your method worked perfectly. I have an 8000 series TV. I paired my Jabra headphone (see Wirecutter) and got the sound to come out of the headphones only. Then, your solution: I changed fthe "Source" to "TV," went back to the multi-ouput sound button and made it "on." Then, I went back and made my "Source" "Directv" again. (I have the Directv recorder.) I changed the audio output back to "TV speaker." Now, when I turn on the TV sound comes out of the speakers and a little window appears in the upper right asking me if I want to "connect" my headphones. I do. I can alter the volume of both outputs independently.
So, by temporarily cutting off my Directv Box as the "Source," the "multi-output sound" option became avaailable. The rest makes all logical sense. Thanks.
Reader: please follow Stewie's concrete instructions. They are just great!
My hearing-impaired body is now in sync with my soul. Heaven.
Big complaint: The Samsung chatroom was useless, was uninformed. They need to pay their operators more.
Small complaint: I had a hard time finding you, Stewie. However, when I wanted to find you again I googled "Stewie Griffin Apprentice" I found your excellent instructions.

I am using a BOSE soundbar. I first paired up a Bluetooth speaker and the selected Multi Audio. Then, IMPORTANT, I connected the Bose and the TV via Optical Cable, and set the BOSE TV source to Optical. Make sure there are no HDMI connections to your soundbar, only Optical. Both TV and Soundbar speakers work perfectly at the same time.

Will a HDMI soundbar and an Optical-Out (Toslink) device work at the same time on a 8000 series TV?
I dont need the TV speaker or bluetooth devices at all. Just HDMI and Optical.

Solved my similar problem today after just buying a new Samsung crystal UHD series 8 TV.. (UA43TU800OS)
Used my old TV remote which had a menu button.
Many thanks Stewie

Hi,
Followed Stewie's suggestion and managed to get 'Multi-output' enabled, but as soon as I re-connect my Sonos Beam soundbar to HDMI (arc) Multi-output gets disabled. Anybody been able to sort this out or should I give up?
Thanks,
Tim

I have a QN55Q6DTAF and had the same issue with not turning on TV speakers and Bluetooth at the same. I called tech support and they told me it could be done. Support is useless. This is what I did, connected my bluetooth headset, settings , general, accessibility, Multi-output (now not grayed out) turned on and now have audio on TV speakers and headphones
