Lack of Google Meet Replacement renders slim camera useless to me

I bought a Samsung 55" frame 2022 TV qe55ls03bauxxu and the slim camera https://www.samsung.com/uk/tv-accessories/slim-fit-cam-vg-stcbu2k-xc/ in 2022. I used this for Google Meet calls until the app was removed in March 2023 https://support.google.com/meet/answer/12957131?hl=en (note no communication from Samsung). The app was poor and buggy (like the TV) but generally worked acceptably enough for me to want to use it.

I contacted Samsung in April and the support rep claimed a replacement video conference app was coming and I should watch the website. I can't find any alternative video conferencing apps in the app store on the TV. I don't regard the TV watching me doing yoga as a useful application.

Has anyone got any alternative ways to use this camera and TV for video conferencing without plugging a proper computer in?

Have I bought an overpriced paperweight calling itself a camera?

Any examples of a more rapidly obselete product? (Sorry if you bought this device in early 2024).

I have the same issue. I find it unbelievable Samsung is still selling this camera without any communication of the fact that you can not use it with their TVs (as far as understand). This is simply misleading! Very disappointed!

J'ai exactement le même problème que vous. Nous avons acheté une TV samsung 55QN95C en août 2024, cette TV était vendue avec la slim fit cam, la publicité mettait en avant l'utilisation de la caméra pour discuter avec ses proches en visioconference. Or, la caméra n'a plus aucune utilité car il n'y a plus aucune application permettant de faire une visioconference sur la TV depuis l'arrêt de l'appli Google Meet. J'ai contacté à 2 reprises l'assistance samsung qui m'indique que la TV n'est plus compatible avec les applications de visioconference et me conseille de passer par le navigateur internet pour réaliser les visioconferences. Après plusieurs essais, ça ne fonctionne pas non plus (que ce soit Google meet, Zoom, Skype...). Très déçu franchement et le sentiment de m'être fait arnaquer par la marque ! C'était notre 1ere TV Samsung (nous étions Sony auparavant) et ce sera la dernière ! Inconcevable que la marque ne communique pas à ce sujet et continue d'afficher cette TV comme vendue avec caméra pour réaliser des visioconferences. Samsung, c'est fini pour moi !
