I am reposting this thread because it got incorrectly merged and I suggest whoever is moderating the forums to read my post very carefully.

The latest 2106 firmware update which was pushed out through an OTA update (not uploaded on the Samaung website yet) has removed the option to select HGIG mode.

Through AVSforums, we know that this is currently affecting the 2024 models, specifically the S90D, S95D and QN90D. It is unknown what other models have been affected. Edit: We now know that it is affecting the 2025 models

The purpose of this thread post is to find out which models have been affected by the Tizen OS update, It might even be affecting the 2023 models.

I ask the community, if your TV Model has been affected and I have not mentioned it, please write your model down below

I am attaching an image below which showcases our problem. As you can see the option to choose HGIG is completely removed.

Edit  1: I am linking to the more active thread, please engage in writing your comments there

Edit 2: No Game HDR (HGIG) has not been integrated into Game HDR (Original) in the Game Bar. Game HGIG is to do with tone mapping, and the presets are to do with picture settings. Even on Game HDR (Original) it's tone mapping to 4000 nits. Anyone saying anything otherwise is spreading misinformation.

No, sorry, but this is a very unhelpful response and does not do or achieve anything. Samsung Support does not have a solution for something that is a firmware level issue and there are currently no new updates.

What are we waiting for? An update on a off chance that it might return HGIG?

It takes over 4 months to receive a single update for Samsung TVs.

The last update was in February. We received the latest update in July, that is five months.

Why was HGIG removed in the first place?

Again, this is a poor response for a very significant and huge issue that can cause a lot of backlash for Samsung.

HGIG is a key feature for a lot of gamers and is one of the main reasons people bought the TV.

We need a statement from Samsung that they are aware of the issue and they are working on a fix. I'm giving Samsung the opportunity to do the right thing.

Hi what is your TV model? I have QN85D EU which is QE65QN85D. Still I haven't receive the update . As per you post HGiG is taken off from the new update means it does not show no where in the TV?

50 inch QN90D. If you do receive the update, do not download it. In fact, I'll say to disconnect your TV from WiFi. Yes it removes it completely as shown in the image I provided where Game HDR (HGIG) should be

That is literally what my thread is about. How am I supposed to contact Samsung Developers? I don't have them on speed dial.

I've said it was a software firmware issue and actually, yes, we've started recieving reports that it's affecting Korea models too now with update 1601

Edit: You're not part of Samsung moderation team or developer team, why are you even replying to this thread telling people to wait for updates etc, what a patronising gaslit comment, it's free to not reply at all, your reply is useless and detracts from the issue at hand, please do not reply again, I will be muting you.

We've spent thousands of pounds on our TVs and you're telling us oh just wait for a firmware update, oh just contact support.

I've contacted support already and I wrote in bold the purpose of this thread.

You may have accidentally missed it

I will apologise to you if I've come across rude in my frustration, but please respectfully remove yourself from this thread, thank you.

Thanks for bringing attention to this, @Jvhxl. I agree — HGIG is a key feature for many of us, especially gamers who rely on proper HDR tone mapping. Removing it without notice or explanation is a big step back.

I'm using the [insert your model here, if you'd like] and will avoid the update for now. Samsung definitely needs to acknowledge this and provide clarity. Subscribed to stay updated and happy to contribute any findings.

Definitely - it's a critical and advertised feature.

My first Samsung TV and last. They're quality control around firmware releases obviously isn't good enough. My household also has 3 Samsung phones as well - something else I will have to reconsider if this is how a company treats customers (releasing rushed, bugged firmware, removing critical/advertised features and staying silent).
