Our TV is a little over a year old...not near any heat source.  Just today a black splotch appeared in the upper right hand corner and started to spread through the entire screen with the screen resetting constantly.  We unplugged it from the wall to no effect.  We gave it a factory reset...that did not work.  For the amount of money we spent on this...it should last longer than 16 months!

Someone in the house must have banged it up my mistake and is quiet about it.

Looks to be screen damage.

You'd probably need a new TV.

Sounds like screen bleed, which is usually because of damage & has nothing to do with software, needs replacing or repairing, unfortunately.

Believe it or not...Smart Hub was not updating properly...once we did that all of the apps updated and the black plague spread stopped!

May I ask what you did when you say 'we did that'? Are you disabling Smart Hub? Or how are you updating it?

So we went into settings...click on general then find where the factory reset is. You have to enter a 4 digit pin(if you never set the pin, the default is 0000) and reset the TV to factory basic.  The thing is that you have to be quick about it bc the 'black creep' will start again and you won't be able to reset it. It's a bit of a hassle if you have a bunch of apps that you use, you'll have to re-download and sign back into all of them...but the process saved the tv

The black creep came back in full force the other week...no amount of resetting could fix it...the Black death claimed it
