BBC iPlayer does not support color spaces on S90C

On my new S90C firmware 1410, BBC iPlayer does not support color spaces correctly: when playing content, change in picture settings / color space (auto, normal, original, custom) has no effect on picture. Picture looks oversaturated as it seems it is using always original color space. On my old Q80R it worked as expected (there was visible difference when switching between different color space settings). Just to add, color space setting works correctly on Terriestrial TV, youtube or playing media from HDD. So it seems just BBC iplayer app has a bug.

You've established the issue relates to just the one app so I would recommend getting in touch with app developer of BBC iPlayer and highlight this to them.

And also check to see if iPlayer has any updates that need to be installed :smiling-face:

Yes, I did contact BBC iPlayer support, so far I received useless request to restart TV, router, etc. I am chasing them again, hopefully I will get through 1st line of support to get some real help.

Just to add some interesting observation:

Normally when color space is set to "Custom" and I edit custom color space settings using RGB sliders, I can see change in colors instantly.

This is not happening when playing BBC iPlayer SDR content: moving RGB sliders in custom color space editor has no effect on played content.

Additionally,  "Picture Clarity Settings" is OFF and disabled in expert settings when playing SDR content from BBC iPlayer.

I have received the following response from BBC:

We have heard back that Samsung are aware of the problem. They say it’s specific to the panel on this device. They think the issue is related to a feature they introduced last year.
An upgrade is coming to fix the issue but there is no time frame yet. Sadly, we wouldn’t be able to help more or provide updates about this as this is a fault on Samsung’s side.

The issue still exists in new firmware 2000.2

I am happy to announce that the issue has been resolved in the newest firmware 2033 (One UI).

My S90C updated itself to 2020.2 firmware and the issue is now back!

This is really annoying Samsung, if you can hear me, it just shows just how incompetent your developers are.
