TV: UE55 NU7500
I'm not sure whether this is a general Samsung issue or just to do with my TV, but the amount of space allocated to the Smart Hub apps seems to be seriously lacking.
As this is a new TV I thought I'd explore some of the available apps, but when I went into the Apps area I got a message saying that there was insufficient space to update apps. This was before I had downloaded anything, so it would purely apply to the pre-installed apps.
I checked settings and the used space was 751MB with 64MB available, i.e. 7%. This seems absurd as these apps can't be deleted and are built into the system. The available space doesn't even allow them to be updated. I then tried resetting Smart Hub. This has helped to an extent as the available space is now 13%. However, it's still far too low and whenever I try and download a new app I get a warning about available space.
I can't believe that the pre-installed apps are taking around 700MB of space, and it seems crazy that Samsung would design the system this way. Presumably I will have to install an SD card to provide more space for the apps?
Any tips welcome as this is my first Samsung TV.

I really do wish people would do a little research before posting. I'm sure you're aware of the saying "assumption is the mother of all...". Anyway, most manufacturers do indeed include device memory in their official specs. From someone who has worked in consumer law for 15+ years, good luck to anyone wishing to waste their time and money fighting a case they simply can't win. The intelligent option would be to cut your losses, learn from your mistakes and purchase a new TV from a manufacturer that is completely transparent with the spec of their devices.
You've worked in consumer law for 15+ years yet you blame the victim? Learn from *our* mistakes? What are you talking about? Go and troll somewhere else.
Your suggestion is ridiculous. It's like telling consumers to check the electrical specification of an oven to make sure it can safely go up to 200 degrees, and blaming them if they didn't and there's an issue. There is such a thing as expectation that a device will be fit for purpose and properly designed.

@PropaBo Also, your post contradicts itself. 10 hours ago you posted this:
"Has anyone actually found any 'official' specifications showing that the affected models have more than 1gb storage? I can't seem to find anything 'official', only a few third party specs that seem to 'assume' they have 4gb storage."
Make up your mind.

You can't win when talking to people on forums because they always know better. I will refrain from trying to help anyone on forums in future. The guy above is correct, Samsung won't care if your TV is out of warranty. Buy a different manufacturer in future or check the app storage space. Live and learn.
I have the same issue and if the factory reset hadn't worked I would have had to buy another TV or (more likely) add an Apple TV box for the apps. Because the TV is out of warranty.

I won't comment further as I don't want to risk a ban, especially as I'm the OP of this thread. We've not had a problem like this until this week. Such a shame, but it looks like the moderator is on top of things.

I don't blame you Tony and you are right people were more respective and took more time to read the thread properly before trying to jump the bandwagon so to speak. I think it's fairly obvious that there is no fix to help solve the solution and it's hardly likely there will ever be one either.
I am just grateful that I have not had any of the problems most have encountered with the NU series and my 50" NU7400 is still working as good as the day I had it around 14 months ago. I am well happy with it. But then again if I was to install apps like many of the others do, I dare say I would have encountered the same problem no doubt and the TV is not fit for that purpose like it should have been. I've still yet to see a box pop up saying I do not have the required space to install the latest update and I have not turned off automatic update either. I guess I am the lucky one...

Bad news guys. When Samsung got my TV i had 170MB left. They changed motherboard and the new TV received has 112MB left. It looks like that all motherboard of the that series has that problem. This is not acceptable for me. In a few days I will receive the error that apps (preinstalled, not mine) cannot be updated. And I will call Samsung again and we see.
