Help!

Have a new 2024 Frame TV and want use the remote to control the Sky Q box.

We have a 2023 Frame TV that happily connected and controls the Sky Q box (albeit with with a slightly cumbersome press the 3 coloured dots and then select ‘cable’ menu).

Tried the same process with the new TV and it fails to “change” the channel in the step up (tried all 20 tries, and the manufacturer model number doesn’t have Sky or recognise the model number).

If I use the other TV remote it can control the Sky box in the new TV location - so it’s not a distance thing.

Any ideas?

Hi @Andrew Roach  Welcome to the Samsung community :smiling-face:

It seems to be an issue with some modern models (from previous feedback).

Information received from other customers suggests  the cog /123 button  is the only method for accessing the sky Menus on newer models.  previously were able to select by selecting the sky icon and Home.I am assuming the Universal Remote has been set up as described here https://www.samsung.com/Universal Remote

The 2023 version works by using the “cog” menu.

The 2024 cannot seemingly control the box at all - this is the issue I am looking for help with.

cannot get the link to work, but I have followed the same process as I did for the 2023 TV and it works (to a fashion ie cog button).

oh right, not sure why that should be the case. You could try Factory Resetting but may not resolve it(know other Remote works)

Steps are here (but likely followed the process):

  1. Press the Home button on your TV remote to access the Home Screen. Using the directional pad on the remote, navigate to Source. When the selector is placed over Source, the Source menu will appear.

  2. Press UP on the directional pad to access Universal Remote, and then select Universal Remote on the Source screen.

  3. Next, select Start and make sure the device you want to connect is turned on. Select the device you are trying to setup: Cable/Satellite box, Home Theater, OTT Box/Game console (Select this option for Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire etc), or Blu-ray disc Player (Select this option for DVD players). Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup and register the device. The instructions will vary, depending on the device type selected.

  4. Your TV and the remote will memorize the external device and its connection port (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.) to make controlling everything even easier.

  5. Occasionally, the device may not respond after it's registered. To make sure the connection is made, you will need to re-register the device.

Does the system send a signal down the HDMI to control the connected device? OR does it output a RF/Bluetooth signal to the device?

I think the system using output signal using IR for the Device.

Thanks for all the messages so far.

However I am not sure if it can be IR as the Sky Q box is located in a cabinet in an AV room yet the 2023 remote works fine.

If the Frame remote “learns” the Sky RF/Bluetooth signal and then sends it then there is no reason why the 2024 version shouldn’t be working.

IF the remote sends a RF/Bluetooth signal to the Frame connect box, and then the connect box sends a signal via HDMI - then the issue might be that the 2024 TV is connected to Sky via a HDMI over cat 6 system?

I can use the Sky Go app and it works OK as a work around, but not ideal for our young son / guests.

Oh right, possibly there is a signal via HDMI and it is Cat6 related.

Anyone know for certain? It’s a big hassle to check it by moving the TV to the other room.
