I bought a Q80T a couple of days ago and have noticed a really annoying issue when using the tv with the combination of HDR and game mode.
I'm fairly certain this is a software bug in the TV since I can reproduce this issue with 100% accuracy, and it happens on the dot at the same moment every time. It's basically on a timer.
Basically when the game is displaying a HDR signal and game mode is enabled, exactly after 6 minutes the brightness of the TV suddenly drops by around 20 (50 -> 30). The value of brightness setting doesn't actually change however. Messing with the brightness setting does not restore the brightness to it's original state, but changing the local dimming setting from standard to low and then back to standard does. Switching game mode off and then back on also fixes the issue, but then it happens again EXACTLY after 6 minutes (I've timed this with a stopwatch).
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Or can someone maybe test this on their TV to see if you can reproduce it?
Exact repro steps on how I can reproduce this 100% of the time on the PS4 Pro:
Some other notes: The PS4 has a screensaver that basically dims the screen if it is idle for a while. This is not the cause of this, this happens even when the console is in active use and the brightness can be restored temporarily by changing the local dimming setting like described above. I have not managed to reproduce this issue with game mode off, so it seems to be related to game mode.
Software version: 1304

My Q90t was auto updated today from 1115 to 1304, I have auto update deactivated but somehow tv just did update over night. Strange is that i didnt have any brightnes drops now, on 1115 dimming bug happened every 5-10 minutes, now I played on ps4 for 3h and no dimming. 🤔 So be warned not trust auto update off button.

check the latest comment on page 100, someone just confirmed that auto update off still ends up auto updating, so yeah guess the only way to stop it is by blacklisting your your TV via the router settings lol

That's absolutely nuts man!! Why are Samsung doing this? It's almost as if they want to push their customers away. Maybe I'm being delusional, but is this even legal? They shouldn't be forcing updates on people like that, unless it's another bug. But I guess enjoy the "No dimming" while you can, from my experience sometimes it used to happen randomly. Other times it used to happen every 5 mins or so. Hopefully you are one of the only people unaffected by this but highly unlikely, from my research, everyone with a QT series had that issue.

Just a heads up for you and everyone else wondering. I’ve been following that guys YouTube comment thread. He was able to 100% get 4K 120hz Freesync working with a different HDMI cable. He also posted a screenshot to prove it. That is awesome news!

Woah that's great! Is 4k at 120hz new with this update? I know before 4k has been limited at 60hz regardless of VRR.

The guy testing it was on the new firmware.

Nextgen console will diliver a hdmi cable thats capable for 4k 120fps. And that guy from youtube also posted a pic that he is playing 120fps with vrr on.

I'm still confused.
So we know it works with Freesync?
But does it work with standard HDMI 2.1 VRR too?
I'm planning to get a RTX 3080 later this year so I need to know if it'll work on my pc too.

It works with freesync, you just need the right HDMI cable. He uploaded a pic that's showing 4k 120fps freesync: https://m.imgur.com/DRLJqi1

Still weird because Nvidia only supports Freesync over DisplayPort.
