Hi,

With this post, I would like to ask a question.

Does anyone know if the UE40ES8000 smart TV supports HDMI 2.0a ?

Thanks

Good afternoon @tmmls ,

Is the full Model Code of the TV UE40ES8000SXXN? Check the sticker on the back of the TV.

The introduction year of the tv is 2012. Is the current softwareversion of the TV the 2022.0?

(Dutch) bij Instellingen->Ondersteuning->Over deze tv.

HDMI 2.0a is only intended for televisions that support HDR. This is in 4K UHD TV's.

Your TV is a Full HD TV, so it wil not support this HDMI version on the 3 ports..

Hi,

Yes, the code is UE40ES8000SXXN. Current version is 2021.

If it doesn't support 2.0a, does it support version 2.0? What is the most recent HDMI version the TV supports?

External devices are using more and more newer versions of the HDMI standard. I need to know what the max. supported HDMI version is to prevent buying external devices that will not work on my TV.

Thanks.

Good morning @tmmls ,

Thank you for the full Model Code! Your software version is out of date. Please update via USB.

You can find the 2022.0 here under Downloads:

https://www.samsung.com/nl/support/model/UE40ES8000SXXN/

Use this procedure. It’s in Dutch, but you can use Google translate:

http://www.samsung.com/nl/support/tv-audio-video/hoe-update-ik-de-firmware-of-software-van-mijn-tv-v...

Make sure that from the extracted T-ECPDEUC_2022.0.exe the folder T-ECPDEUC-> image is in the 'root' (highest level) of the External HDD / USB stick, otherwise the TV can not find it.

HDMI 1.4 was introduced in 2009 and HDMI 2.0 in 2013. Your TV is from 2012 so your HDMI ports are 1.4.

Of course you can connect devices to those ports, but you run into limitations like bandwidth.

That is the difference between 2.0 and 1.4. To be fully sure contact Support.
