PDF annotations in OneDrive lost (Tab S6 lite), NEED HELP

Hi all. For my PhD I've bought my S6 lite tablet mainly to read and annotate papers. I'm doing this in OneDrive using the included annotation function, because I need to be in OneDrive and can't download the papers locally for safety reasons - I work at a hospital and in the virtual system of the hospital.

I've saved and opened the same PDF multiple times as I've been reading and annotating it over multiple working days, as it's really big and also made me want to read other related things inbetween sections. Now that I wanted to continue after a 5 min break, ALL my annotations are gone. This has happened before on a smaller scale, but this contained multiple days' worth of work, important annotations, notes/ideas for my own paper that I needed to process, etc. How can this happen and how can I get it back? What even happened?

Things I've noticed;

- The colors on the annotation system (pens, markers etc) changed back to default colors.

- On my laptop/hospital system, there are no previous versions of the file to open. Doing this on the tablet is not an option, I believe.

- When I open the file now, sometimes it's completely blank, sometimes it's just the paper without my annotations.

- There are no multiple versions of the file to be found if I search for it (I hoped that maybe there was a blank and an annotated version somewhere, so far no luck).

Please, PLEASE help, I'm desperate as I can't lose all of this work, and am close to throwing the tablet out of the window, as this is just one in a row of many problems. I'm not asking much of it and it can't perform (can't connect to most Wifi's, regularly crashes, now this).

Hi,
Have a look below It may help helpful to you

If you've lost files in OneDrive, you can try these steps:

Check the Recycle bin

Deleted files are kept in the Recycle bin for 30 days for personal accounts and 93 days for work or school accounts. To restore a file from the Recycle bin, go to the OneDrive website, sign in, and select Recycle bin in the navigation pane. Then, select the files you want to restore and click Restore.

Restore your OneDrive

If you're a Microsoft 365 subscriber, you can restore your entire OneDrive to a previous time. To do this, go to the OneDrive website, select Settings, and then select Restore your OneDrive. You can choose a date from the dropdown list or select a custom date and time.

Restore a previous version of a file

You can restore a previous version of a file using the version history. To do this, select the file you want to restore, right-click, and then select Version history.

Search for your files

You can search for your files using the OneDrive mobile app or another Microsoft account.

Check your Personal Vault

If you're using a Personal Vault, make sure it's unlocked before checking the Recycle bin

Thank you. This unfortunately doesn't help as I think not the file was lost, but just the annotations on the file. I do not have the Microsoft 365 options as I'm working in the hospital system. There seem to be no previous versoins of the file. It looks as if the annotations were never saved, but I'm sure I saved the file I was annotating so many times, and even think I switched to other documents in the same (OneDrive) program, which means it also should have saved inbetween..
