Android 12 update has messed up 'move to SD' functionality.

Updated my A7 Lite today with Android 12 and the apps on my SD card are no longer accessible.  The update to Android 12 has basically killed the 'Move to SD' functionality which Android 11 had.  If an app is moved to SD to fails with 'Not Enough Storage' error even though there's 10s of Gb free on the SD card.  I've tried everything; formatting/mounting & unmounting card and even a factory reset assuming the SD card was the issue but it isn't.  I copied back my music & ebook library to the SD card using my PC and they can be accessed / played / read without issue which further shows the SD card isn't the problem.

That is insulting peoples intelligence , if an app doesn't work on sd then you reinstall it on internal memory you don't disable existing apps that work fine and stop people moving other ones

It's fit for purpose..I suggest you read what that firmware changes before you just click to install next time. Sansung do give change logs if you read the changes and not just click install. You can always revert back to the pervious firmware by flashing it your self. Next time read the change logs before you just click instal.

If you want it back revert to the pervious firmware by downloading it and flashing it yourself. If you read the change logs of the newer firmware all the changes are there. Once you click instal you have agreed to all the changes made.

Read the change logs first..if you don't read the change logs and just click instal you have agreed and accepted all the changes

I would happily go back to android 11 but Samsung keep saying it is impossible , also Samsung defaults to auto updates and didn't warn me to turn these off so they didn't wreck my tablet , your details of how to go back to android 11 don't give enough detail if how to do this as I am not a computer expert

Move to sd card has been removed from android. You need root access to get this back. As Google removed sd cards on there own devices and many many other manufacturers removed sd cards then move to sd card is no longer a viable option.

If you want to move apps to sd card on lower end devices the root is your only option. Google removed this feature in android to make it more stable. Ie if your sd card is the slowest form of storage. Moving apps to sd card can lead to apps crashing and the system being very unstable because of how slow the sd card is. If you have a unstable system due to sd card being slow then this is more of a issue

As many people say on here they are very disappointed by samsung doing this . I have never had any problems with apps on my sd card and now I only effectively have 32gb of storage rather than 160gb before samsung wrecked my tablet .
Please advise in detail how to root and re-enable apps on sd card

Its not impossible head over to sammobile download the android 11 firmware for your device and use odin to flash it your self. Its not impossible to revert. You just need to use odin. Manually download the android 11 version for your device and use odin to flash it. But you must know how to get your device into download mode. You must have a technical mind to do it. Nothing is impossible

Again read the change log don't just click instal to a new update. Hence why sansung give out change logs. If sansung has changed something you don't want its all in the change logs. You obviously don't have any intelligence if you didn't read the change log before you just clicked install. Not reading the change log before you instal a new firmware update means you have accepted all the changes samsung have made. Its not sansungs problem you didn't read the change logs first that is your problem for not reading it. Samsungs tos does state changes can be made at any point and if you don't agree with the changes you don't need to instal the newest firmware. Once you click instal you have accepted all the new changes samsung has made.
