Device Trade In Query (device not working option)

So I have an old phone which no longer works, I see the trade in option has "any other device" and a "device is not working" option.

My current daily use phone which is not listed, although it is only a €200 phone and in bad condition it's a safe back up to keep in a drawer as it's functionally sound.

Is there any reason not to trade in a broken phone which doesn't turn on in order to get the minimum trade in value?

Is there anything in the T&Cs about this? Could this backfire or would an old Xiaomi phone which doesn't turn on suffice? It seems a bit to good to be true.

You'd need to check what the actual Trade In amount is for the phone @MausC

The Trade In Terms do say

Device powers on and holds charge

  • Factory reset and no software locks

  • No outstanding finance or credit

And is for selected mobile phones.

If you mean Samsung Recycle found here https://www.samsungrecycle.co.uk/sell-my/mobile-phone/samsung then that will advise how much you could possibly receive however it's not typically alot.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

What you have mentioned is listed as minimum Requirements, however Appendix 2 references trade in values for phones which do not meet these requirements. This combined with the option to select "my device does not work" as a trade in option seems like they are accepting phones which do not turn on in order to attain the minimum.

Just to note I am referencing the Irish Trade In Terms & Conditions.

https://shop.samsung.com/ie/trade-in-terms-and-conditions

Appendix 2

List of applicable Existing Devices available to trade in and values associated with such Existing Devices - where the Existing Device does not meet the Minimum Requirements

Any other device

You'll usually find that the device has to be a working model. Iv'e traded some in over the years through O2 network and each time they would check if it switches on and is clear of any data before it gets sent off other wise it will be rejected by Samsung when it reaches them.

Wondering how trade in worked out for you. I see same offer now on Samsung Ireland page. Offering 250 euro for broken trade in against S25 Ultra. Has anyone had a problem after returning broken trade in? Was going to trade in broken Tab A8 . Screen smashed.
