A web search often leads me to interesting posts in r1.community.samsung.com or r2.community.samsung.com, but if I try t respond to one, I am prompted to create a new profile.
Why do I need a new profile?
Why is the community even divided up by region?
I can understand having different sections by language, but how different is the operation of Samsung devices or software in Europe than it is in New Zealand, for example?

I appreciate you reaching out regarding the Community page, @rsbrux. A lot of the information you receive in different regions will only be applicable in that region, and it helps those located in the region to get the correct information that applies to them. This can involve arranging repairs, warranty information, offers and promotions, and the cost of products on the Samsung UK website in their region.
You're welcome to look at the Community page for advice in different regions, but to get information that applies to you in your region, it will be ideal for you to check out the Community page where you're located.

Thanks for responding, but of the numerous categories in each region's community, how many are really region-specific? Samsung Shop and Events, obviously, but what else?
Does that really justify separating all of the other content and even requiring a separate community profile?
The EU community has separate sections for different countries or groups of countries (e.g. Nordics) between which the offers, repair options, warranty conditions and product prices are also different, yet my community profile here gives me access to all of these. Why not worldwide? If I post a question in the English-language EU forum, mightn't an Australian or a Kiwi (or even English speakers in other countries) have useful tips to offer?

Hi @rsbrux ,
The need for a separate profile for different regions is structural: a result of how the different regional Communities were implemented and are hosted on completely separate places on the web (as opposed to the EU Community, which is just one giant forum segmented into smaller ones). Whether it’ll remain separate or all be combined at some point in the future hasn’t been discussed at our side as far as I know. (If it has been talked about, it's been at above my paygrade haha.)
AsadM’s correct in that Samsung Support (and Sales etc.) tend to go along regional and country lines; with subsidiaries covering specific geographic areas for better adaptation to that local area. Whilst there are similarities, as AsadM alluded to there can also be important differences to the products, support, and services/apps available. TVs are one example of that: different regulations in the US, say, mean slight differences in the specific TV chipset (and the software that runs it) to the equivalent sets in the UK or EU; and some apps and services on those TVs might only be available to a certain region/country.
Without knowing where people are based it can sometimes be a tad confusing for everyone in terms of experiences being reported and offering relevant advice. (It’s why you’ll see us asking which country people are based in on here – kinda helps when we all have better idea where someone is coming from both literally and metaphorically.)
Of course, everyone can sign up to the other Communities using the same Samsung account, and benefit from what they see on there, and share it around -- just bear in mind the caveat that the stuff that's from places other than where you are might not always be applicable.

Following your suggestion, I have registered in both the EU and US communities and cross-posted my latest question in both. In doing so, I noted two significant differrences between the communities:
The Khoros platform continues to hang not only Firefox, but the entire network connection on my Windows 10 PC, even after making an exception to "Enhanced Tracking Protection" for community .samsung.com.
P.S. The hang problem appears to be specific to the EU community. The US community appears to work properly.
