XCover 5 back camera not focusing after Android 14/UI6 upgrade

I have 3 XCover 5 phones, I upgraded the OS of the two from Android 13/UI5.1 to Android 14/UI6.0 the other day and both of them can no longer take sharp photos nor able to scan bar/QR codes using the back camera. XCover 5 is used by many businesses to scan barcodes in warehouses, hospitals, groceries, train/bus tickets, etc. I would have thought that the team who is responsible for the Android 14/UI6.0 upgrade has tested the camera because this is the most widely used by the people who used them in their working environment. Please release the fix for this issue as soon as possible. Your business customers will really lose confidence on your product if this is not fixed quickly.

I have the exact same problem, started with the upgrade to One UI 6.0 (two days ago). I suspected the update (confirmed now), but feared an actual broken camera lens - so I have been tapping it, slapping it, wiping cache 1000x times, put magnets on it in hopes of dislodging the lens ... I'm glad i found this post before i actually opened up the lens itself, or thrashed the complete phone. So I guess we just have to wait? And not use QR payments for a while ☹️

Thanks for your effort. This is affecting many people and we need a fix ASAP. I hope Samsung realizes how serious this is.

We have several brand new Xcover 5 phones - all were purchased the last two weeks, and after the update to Android 14 / One UI 6.0 last night, all phones now have main cameras that are literally useless and cannot focus anymore.

Of course this means all photos are totally our-of-focus, but it also creates a total inability to scan QR codes and text/document scanning.

Even 3rd party camera apps (for example OpenCamera) aren't able to trigger the autofocus anymore.

I phoned Norwegian Samsung support just now... and they aren't even aware of this issue.

But, people here need to know if Samsung acknowledges the issue.  (Does Samsung employees even read their own forum?)

I did the same thing, tried using the 3rd party camera app but it didn't solve the problem.

If you read Rudolf W's comment above, he already spoke with Samsung and they are already working to fix this issue. I reported this as well when I did the camare diagnostic on my phone with sample blurred photo taken by the phone. Samsung already replied to my report saying they are already working on it. No information as to when they will release the fix.

While we are waiting...

Dumb question:

Is there no manual focus mode on this thing?

I dug into the camera settings but I was not able to find an option for manual focus.

Nor was I. That in itself is a very odd limitation.
