Hi there! Android Pie update with new One UI shell from Samsung was released in february 2019. Today is 13th july 2019 and I still didn't get that update. Phone tells that all new software updates already installed. I bought UK-version of phone and living and using it in Russia. I suppose, that's the reason. So, can you please give me an advice? Please do not tell to use Smart View desktop application for update, because i'm using Mac, not Windows. Thanks in advance!

Hi there. I've manually updated the firmware to Android 9.0 Pie with One UI. For that:
1. I installed Samsung Firmware Update Checker app to my Note 8 from Google Play. This app showed me the current latest firmware for my smartphone and gave a download link.
2. I downloaded the firmware via the link on the computer. Then I installed the Odin software on computer (I have to used Windows-machine, because there is no Odin for other platforms). Then I installed Samsung USB-driver. Connected the smartphone cable to the computer and flashed it.
Now I have Android 9.0 Pie with One UI on my Galaxy Note 8.
I hope this helps others.
P. S. The problem was in that I didn't get the OTA-update because the phone was purchased in UAE and used in Russia.

Yes that's the issue sometimes with an imported phone that's being used in a country it wasn't released to be used in @cab123
There are software programmes designed to help with updating a phones software.
Check some out in......
xda-developers.com/update-firmware-any-samsung-phone.
SmartSwitch has Mac and Windows versions.
Can you download the phoneinfo app from Playstore and look at the csc code and tell me what it says please.
Best practice is to update via the phones own software update section.
However you could pop over to the xdadevelopers site and look at other options.
Disclaimer....
A person trying to put a Custom Rom on to their phone need to be aware this could in some cases render the phone unstable and or unusable.

Hello!
Thanks a lot for helping me. I didn't know that Mac-version on Smart Switch exists. But now after I've installed that application on Mac and connected Note 8 the app tells me that there is no new software version for my phone.

You're very welcome @cab123
As I said in my initial reply an imported phone can have issues with updates.
It's upto you if you wish to look into the other options.

Hey @MystaMagoo, Google removed this feature from Android due to GDPR in 2018.

Hi @CarlH
Google removed 3rd party access.
Samsung removed native access.
Thailand rom has it active/enabled.
Indian rom has it active/enabled.
UK rom has it disabled.
All 3 use the same rom.
So samsung enables/activates it for different countries.
Do not blame it on anything else than what it is.
Discrimination against certain countries.
