Message app closing itself after 3 seconds on j3

Hi, 

MY message app  keeps closing itself.

I havent changed any settings.

Wont stay open long enough to read or send any messages

Please help

Hi

Go into setting, apps, messages, click on that and clear all its data.

That should hopefully fix.

I did that but it didnt fix it. 

Also when I cleared data it emptied data... but when I went back in, the data was there again

@Trish5: When the Messages app closes, do you get an error message? Can you try pressing the Volume Down and Power buttons together for around 10 seconds until the phone restarts, as this will refresh the software and address any temporary issues. If the issue persists, you may wish to try a factory data reset. If you're happy that your data has been backed up then please go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Factory Data Reset > Reset Now.

Tks for reply. I tried the restarting but it didnt work.

I'm a bit scared to do the factory reset even though I have backed up data... but I'll lose all my photos wont I?
