Hi all. I updated to 6.1 yesterday and amongst other gremlins, the charging ability of the phone has been compromised. I have 2 x 25w samsung official and 1 x 45w samsung official block. Untill yesterday all chargers were fine for full "Superfast" charging speeds, the 45w capable of charging around 1hr17 fully.

All chargers now charge at around 7w, taking around 3 hours to full.

Has anyone figured out why the new firmware is preventing proper charging?

Yes my port is clean
Yes the settings for fast and super fast are selected
Yes the blocks are samsung official and I have tried several
This is 100% firmware related

I've recently spent £100 upgrading the chargers in our home due to my wife getting an S24 ultra and I have tested the leads on hers too and they all work as "superfast"

Any help appreciated, hoping there is a software fix 🤞

Hi.

Try flipping the cable.

Pull out, twist the other way and plug back in.

follow up to above
If you tried and doesn't work check with your other device to see if it is the charger/cable fault if no then its probably something wrong with your phone

Guys seriously, it's not the chargers, it's not me plugging it in the wrong way, it's 100% the firmware update, I've had the phone for 3 years, I know how to plug it into a charger properly 😂

Join the club. Samsung and several moderators and stars are in denial but there is definitely a bug in the update.

Many of us have lost 'Supercharging' or 'Fast Charging' functionality. Phone takes over 3 hours 54 mins for full charge from 0%

Here is what I tried
1. Different 25W and 45W Samsung chargers
2. Different USB - C cables
3. Different plug points
4. Fast/SF toggle in Battery Settings
5 Battery Protection set to Adaptive
6. USB charging diagnostic check passed
7. USB port confirmed clean
8. USB settings cache cleared
9. Finally Factory Reset

Phone charges only via 3.1 A USB-A to USB-C cable

Phone does not recognise USB-C to USB-C cables

The Samsung Service tech services could only recommend a service repair.

Samsung service repair could diagnose no issue with the hardware. Above 1-4 seen on their charger/cables/plugs etc.

Yesterday there was a 'System Configuration' update after which my USB-C charging and Fast charging appears to be working again. Phone back to recognising USB-C to USB-C 5A charging. Still no SF charging

Definitely a software bug

Thanks bud, i'll have a play with adaptive charging settings to see if that helps. I haven't had a problem with USB c to c so guessing i did the configuration update yesterday along with the 6.1 update. No fast charging for me though, trickle only. How did you get service repair?

Also how do you conduct a USB charging diagnostic check?

Many thanks 😊

In your phone 'Settings' , select 'Device Care' and then right at the bottom is 'Diagnostics'. Click that and pick USB charging test from the several diagnostic tests available.

My s21 is the same and in the diagnostic test it says battery weak. It was just fast charge at first but I have noticed it recently with super fast charge. . I have swapped the ends round to see if that works and nothing. Hope there is a fix soon.

I just did that too and got the same result. 3rd party software telling me it's at around 3600mah as opposed to 5000mah. I wonder if the new battery protection elements of the firmware update have a back end adaptive protection to limit damage to already weakened batteries? Not good as I couldn't give a squiffy about the battery longevity as the whole device will be replaced once the battery dies...it's got life in it yet and I need to be able to charge quickly!!
