I thought you asked for my service provider, I'm from Nigeria, so I don't have a popular network provider, my network provider is MTN, and I use a US version of the s21 ultra, do I have to be in US to update my phone.

You have the Snapdragon variant and are on the U.S. network carrier branded S21+ for AT&T. They issue their own updates and not Samsung. It is a known issue that some devices do not get updated by them and you will need to contact them regards this.

Correct. You have a U.S, Snapdragon, carrier locked S21 Ultra and will need to insert a U.S. SIM card to update.
