After installing the latest update on my s21 ultra Tuesday morning it has completely killed the touch screen on my phone making it completely unusable.
After trouble shooting online I took it into the store so they could use a Bluetooth mouse to back up my data to another .device.
Since I am out of warranty I've been told the only way they will fix it is with a chargeable repair and quoted me £300.
I find this completely unacceptable from samsung as they have essentially uploaded a virus to my phone then told me tough luck when I want it fixed.

EDIT: My phone was a refurbished phone which possibly had a new screen on it. Most people seem to that the update has problems with some non-samsung screens causing it to become unresponsive although there are a few people with new phones and screens experiencing the same issue.
It seems the only way to resolve it is by paying for a new screen (if you're outside of warranty) or installing the old 6.0 firmware (which will void your warranty). There is tutorials on YouTube or XDA forums if anyone wants to have a go.

A hardware fault, a software fault that specifically disables one aspect of the hardware on your phone, one of the most important ones mind you, is practically impossible.

Solution available if you root the device

Samsung is trying to updgrade the firmware of the Touchscreen - that fails and they shut down the touchscreen

There is a way to enable it back

I have an s21 sm-g991u1. Had original screen and touchscreen didn't work once ui6.1 upgrade. Tried clearing cache, factory resets and no luck.

Then bought a brand new sealed s21 sm-g991u1. All working fine but updated to 6.1 and again same issue. Lucky phone only a day old so was refunded.

Bought another s21 sm-g991b/ds and this time turned off all updates once it got to ui6.0

Problem is not related to just aftermarket screens. Both phones here were original ones

It's very interesting because I've seen a few people say that they've had original screens and had the same issue.
I'm either going to have to find a way to flash my phone and install new firmware or fork out the money for a new screen but either way it's a pain in the ass 🙃.
I'm glad you were able to be refunded.

So what I did and was lucky enough to be able to is connecting my broken but functional original screen, let the phone boot to android, press powerbutton to turn off screen and connect new non Samsung screen. That is working now. Only thing I don't want to do is turn of my phone...there is an issue with the phone trying to update firmware in boot state to the screen, if that fails it disables the touchscreen.
By that info and post starter i tried this and that works for me now.

I have an original Samsung S21 Ultra, and I encountered the same problem after an update. Now I am using a mouse to work with my iPhone. I also downgraded my phone to One UI 6.0, but after a week, it updated again to 6.1, and the problem returned. I have disabled all options on my phone to prevent auto-updates, but I don't know why it keeps updating

Today, I see that samsung has a new update available. Is it going to fix the issue? Has anyone tried it yet?
