Software update UI 6.1 killed touchscreen on my S21 ultra

After installing the latest update on my s21 ultra Tuesday morning it has completely killed the touch screen on my phone making it completely unusable.
After trouble shooting online I took it into the store so they could use a Bluetooth mouse to back up my data to another .device.
Since I am out of warranty I've been told the only way they will fix it is with a chargeable repair and quoted me £300.
I find this completely unacceptable from samsung as they have essentially uploaded a virus to my phone then told me tough luck when I want it fixed.

EDIT: My phone was a refurbished phone which possibly had a new screen on it. Most people seem to that the update has problems with some non-samsung screens causing it to become unresponsive although there are a few people with new phones and screens experiencing the same issue.
It seems the only way to resolve it is by paying for a new screen (if you're outside of warranty) or installing the old 6.0 firmware (which will void your warranty). There is tutorials on YouTube or XDA forums if anyone wants to have a go.

My s22+ has also started crashing

I'm 100% certain this was the update that caused that problem, indeed. Samsung discriminately chose to pick your specific device, disable the touch response and nothing else. Sounds totally plausible. I'm sure every other S21 (including my own) that has updated were just immune or luckily not singled out by Samsung as you were.

It's not just my specific device? If you look through the forum, you will find plenty of people with s21s facing the exact same issue after the update.
Also, it's been confirmed by the technicians that the hardware is perfectly fine and it's the software causing issues.
Have a quick look before you start yapping

Confirmed by technicians you say? Does that mean you're saying they've already told you that the issue exists, on record, and there hasn't been any liability lawsuits yet?

You realise if any of that were true, you wouldn't need to be complaining here about it.

Also I wasn't born yesterday. Software just doesn't "work" for some devices, then magically switch off for others. If there's a fault in the hardware, sure, but there's no plausible reason why it should or would randomly affect a very specific portion of hardware on a handful of individual devices.

You're right, there's no plausible reason at all. Yet my phone was fine before the update, and immediately after it wasn't. Along with plenty of others with the same model. I wasn't born yesterday either so it doesn't take much to figure out that's the problem.

Well unless you think you have some specialised version of the software on your phone, that simply isn't true.

That's exactly what I'm trying to find out. I don't accept that multiple people with the s21 series faced the exact same issue right after the latest update without it being some kind of software glitch. I suggest you search the UI 6.1 touch screen issues in the forum and try to be as helpful with them as you have been here.

I'm not even sure what you're suggesting that the problem is?
