S20 5g Calendar App not syncing old data with Google calendar

I have a (fairly new to me) S20 5g, purchased March 2024.

I use the Samsung calendar app and sync 2 calendars - 1 hotmail and 1 gmail.

On my previous Samsung A5, all the old appointments from my gmail synced across to the phone app.

On the S20, only the last 16 months of individual appointments have synced (back to March 2023), but some recurring appointments that are currently continuing have synced back as far as April 2022. The calendar is empty prior to that.

Viewing the calendar at calendar.google.com on my computer has all the appointments back to Sept 2013 when I started using it.

It is syncing the right account as new appointments added on the phone appear on the web version, and vice versa.

I use the calendar as a reference tool for information about previous work, and want it to sync more than 16 months. The phone has plenty of free storage.

Any suggestions, please?
