So generally I write like here and make :D, but it looks like "make:D".
The space before is auto-removed so the emoji doesn't change to emoji but stays in text :D.
Why is so, and how to change it?

@Piotr Tumski: If you're adding emojis using characters, as per the above, then there must be a space before and after the characters, as otherwise the system will not be able to interpret the characters properly. To avoid any issues moving forward, why not use the dedicated emoji button in the toolbar above the text entry field. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Thanks AndrewL for your insight. The problem is that I do add space after a word and when I enter a colon to start making emoji, like the space just disappears (its replaced by colon) and I have to delete the colon and add the space again. Then it stays. Why it's so? Why the space is auto-deleted?
btw typing is much faster than choosing emoji visually.

@Elfiina: Please try heading to Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings > More typing options > Auto spacing > English (UK) > Off, to see if this helps. Just to note, I wasn't able to recreate this issue, and was successfully able to write a word, add a space, then enter a colon+capital D (:D)

Yeah, I know about this option, but this will completely turn off any spacing, so if I will choose a word from the "correction panel" or write with the gestures, it won't be adding spaces at all, but I want those spaces, that's why I wrote, that there is no setting for the colon or special symbols only, it's only for all spacing, which is useless to me..

It's exactly the same for me. It's maddening.

It happens only when the space is automatically added. So when you use the whisperer (correction tab) or swipe it puts the selected word into the text field and adds space, but then if you click on colon sign specifically the space is deleted. It will also delete the space when using semi colon, comma, question mark and so on. All these signs you actually want the space deleted so you are writing according to the language rules. But it would be amazing to have the option to turn it off for the colon. I myself don't use "😀" and only use ":D". It's just about preference. If there some workaround please?
