S21 what app photos

My what app photos no longer save to my gallery or Google  photos. The switch is already on in the what app settings  'media visibility'.

On Android, media files are automatically saved in your WhatsApp/Media/folder. If you have Internal Storage, the WhatsApp folder is located in your Internal Storage. If you do not have internal storage, the folder will be on your SD Card or External SD Card.

Google Photos/Library (bottom of screen)/Utilities/Backup Device Folders - switch on WhatsApp, and your photos/videos should be saved there.

When I open my s21 via my desktop using the windows 10 explorer, and open internal storage, I can't find a whatapp folder. On my phone, there is a whatsapp folder in the gallery, so I know photos are being saved, but I can't find them on internal storage to transfer them to my computer. They are not in DCIM, VZ media, pictures, download, documents.  Any ideas where they might be? It's as if what's app never made a folder to save them to.
