Hi, all of a sudden my S21 is not making a sound when I receive text, email etc. I've got the sound turned up and when you try to change the notification sound it makes a sound but it doesn't work as an alert. I've done a hard and soft reset but it's still not working.
Can anyone please help!

I'm having exactly the same problem and it started in July. I tried ALL suggestions mentioned above, including resetting (S20). "Notification" is the only one affected. If you go to Settings, Sounds and Volume, Volume, you see all volume settings. If you adjust any of the other levels, you will hear their sound, and if you quickly slide the "Notification" setting, you will hear it work for a second, but then it stops again. Samsung, we still need a fix for this.

Hi,
I had the same problem. I have a Smartwatch 4 connected to my phone. The 'Mute notifications on phone' was 'on'. Switched the option off and hey presto - it's working again, getting sound notifications on phone again 😀. Reards, Phil

I had the same problem with a Samsung XCover 5 and it turned out to be the Bluetooth connection as mentioned in previous a couple of previous posts. Go to your settings and see if you have a paired Bluetooth device connected. If so, turn off Bluetooth and see if you have notification sounds again. You can turn on Bluetooth again but just make sure the phone does not automatically pair with a nearby Bluetooth device (headphones, speaker, etc), or you will loose your notification sounds again.

Had this problem after the latest update. When I checked the sound volume for notifications it was fine, but still no sound. Did a total shut down followed by a restart, an now notifications are working.
