at first i notice flickering lines on my device specially when playing games. I ask the samsung support and instructed me to soft reset my phone. then it turned green and white display and overheat when stayed open for a while.
is it a screen problem or just an update issue?

hi. i didn't push through with the plan of having my phone examined at the service center. instead, i went to a local "repair" guy i know just to have an idea of what the problem might be and if i'll have it fixed, how much it would cost. so when he looked at my phone, he said it's higly possibly that the lcd is the problem. he said it might cost me around 16 tousand pesos (philippine peso) or about $333. it's so expensive i just decided not to have it fixed. i kept it in my drawer and after about two weeks i decided to check again. i charged it without much expectations. fortunately, it got fully charged. screen was still black so i couldn't do the unlock pattern, but when i tried to turn it on again, it turned on long enough for me to do the unlock pattern and remove that security setting. then it shut down again on its own. then i tried again and this time it stayed working for a couple of hours before it went black. feeling a bit hopeful, i tried to turn it on again and it did. it has not shut down since. for about a week now i am able to use it without much problem. once in a while i see a tiny flickering green line but that's about it. whenever it heats up i make sure to stop what i'm doing or stop charging and place it near a cooling unit. i hope this "good news" will last. so you may want to try letting your phone "rest" for about a couple of weeks and see if it will be "resurrected" again.

I am also from the Philippines. I suggest that you try and have it checked by Samsung. They will tell you if they can fix it for free or if you will have to pay for it. Then you can decide if you want to turn your phone in. BTW, the price for screen replacement is about 12,000 Pesos or ($250).

i am sharing my experience, including me, noticed that most devices failed at 12 +/- 2 months, after a software update (maybe). The interesting part is how Samsung reacted to this. Send your device to your nearest Samsung service center and tell us the outcome. What's surprising is why so many devices around the world have issue at the same time ?
I am in the impression that large multination organization are very professional and fair to the user. But, i just realized Samsung's true color the way they handled my complaint, the real Samsung, a Korean company. I feel sad for so many innocent people, saved money and bought this phone, but at the end, need to go thru this.
May God Bless Samsung.

I'm a die hard fan of Samsung, been using their flagship phones since S2 days. This will high likely be my last Samsung mobile.

I gave my son the Samsung galaxy s20 last year in March of last year and the day before yesterday woke up like this with the green and white screen and flashing I went to the center of attention in Guadalajara, Jalisco and they only told me that I had to change the screen and display for $ 7,500 Mexican pesos but it does not seem fair to me because the phone suddenly became so that Samsung should not be responsible for that? ever iPhone had a failure and I

Same problem here. Bought my S20 Ultra LTE (Exynos 990 version, model number SM-G988B/DS) for 875$ on 28/09/2020, and yesterday (29/09/2021), one day after the warranty ended, my phone turned into a green brick.
No major falls (only ONE fall, 4 weeks ago, at <1m height, and the phone case was on), no water (yes it's "IP68" and everything but I was very cautious), no viruses, no overheat (I even disabled super fast charging, always turned power saving mode on, no enhanced processing, etc.), no damage whatsoever.
I noticed that:
- Changing the resolution and refresh rate does nothing. HD+ or WQHD+, 60Hz or 120Hz, the problem still persists.
- After restarting, the phone gets really hot near the camera and the charging port. At first, there were occasional horizontal "glitches" appearing. Then the frequency and severity increases until the phone turned green. It might fix itself for 10 minutes, but it would happen again, with increasing severity. Then the phone turned completely green + white and is completely unusable. (luckily I backed up my data haha)
- Suggested fixes:
+ Restart: nothing happens
+ Wipe cache partition: nothing happens
+ Factory reset: Yes! Yes it disappeared...my data disappeared, not the green screen. 🤦🏻♂️
+ Going to a Samsung vendor to replace the screen: 227$, 25% of the phone price 😐
+ Ending my Samsung loyalty: Won't fix my screen but will fix my future issues with Samsung phones.
Jokes aside, I think Samsung should address this green screen problem and fix it for free. I don't even think it's a hardware problem (the OLED screen), I think it's a software bug/glitch. Samsung officials are not even replying to our problems (except the moderators who gave us totally useless suggestions) although it's been weeks and months since the Patient Zero of green screen disease appeared.
For God's sake, give us a proper explanation, Samsung!5 minutes before 875$ S20 Ultra turns into S20 Ultra: Useless Edition. Picture was taken using a 6 years old Samsung E5...

Just got home from samsung service center and explained all the problem i had with my S20+ phone. They only give me 50% discount to repair my phone. I said i wont pay a single penny to repair this phone since its not my fault. It never wet, never drop, etc. They only say sorry and thats it. Its not about the money, its about their responsibility.
They said the phone have a glitch, because i was updating the OS with unstable connection. Thats funny because i use my home wifi and i have 4 samsung phone, 3 of them was lower gen than my s20+ (note 3, A20 and S7edge) all of them were fine. Why my so called "smart phone" was not so smart?
It was a horrible responsibility shown by samsung and this will be my last samsung. Crazy to think, this is already worldwide problem and they keep silent about it.

Because of Covid, I couldn't go to the service center to let them check my phone when it got white screen 2 months ago.
Last week, I finally could go to service center and hoped the can fix it. My phone insurance still valid until 04/02/2022, and they didn't agree to maintain it. No major falls, no water but they said they couldn't know "how I use", the only thing they can do is replace the screen with 235$ price.
I refused and gave up. They didn't have any explanation, I don't know if I want to buy their product anymore
