I use the default screen timeout of 30 seconds on my S10. Starting today, the S10 no longer times out completely. After about 20 seconds, the screen dims (as usual). But it never turns off -- it just sits there for hours dimmed. Restarting the phone doesn't change this incorrect behavior.

Can you put the phone in Safe Mode which disables your downloaded apps and leaves the stock ones working and then see if things improve.
Of not then a factory reset maybe a very last resort on what you can do.
A Samsung Experience Store or Samsung Service Centre can run a diagnostic test on the phone.

I found the problem -- an app had accidentally been set to keep the screen in dimmed mode. Once I reset the app, all was well.

Awesome.
This is why I tend to advise to put the phone in Safe Mode as this is a good self help troubleshooting tip to highlight if it's a rogue app or apps preference settings causing the conflict.

Does anyone know how to find the app doing this? And where this setting is? Is it in-app setting or system setting somewhere in settings menu?
