Using own sound file as alert for text messages

I am trying to use my own sound file as an alert for new Text Message.

I managed this on previous Samsung phones.

Which folder should the sound file be placed. i have tried various ones but they are not shown when I try to select which one to use but not be able to see the files listed so cannot select them

Just save the audio file in the "Notifications" folder, in internal storage, and it will appear at the top when you go back into the notifications sound settings.

I am sure I tried that but could not move / copy the file to the folder but will try again.

Managed to get the sound file there (after  a few tries)

Getting really fed up with the two step login, never seems to work and needs several tries.

It seems way over the top just to send relatively unimportant text message.  I presume we have to think the EU as daft thing that we would expect from them!
