The calendar on my phone has gone blank

Hi all

The calendar on my phone has gone blank - all my dates and info disappeared. It's a Samsung Galaxy A40. It happened after I changed my phone (from another A40).  I transferred everything by SmartSwitch – or thought I had – apart from WhatsApp, which does its own thing. Everything else seems fine, so far.

I had a separate backup of the old phone on my PC so I looked at Restoring the calendar from there – but I can’t find Calendar in the available options.

I have tried: Go Settings – Apps – Calendar – Storage – clear cache, but no joy.

I only had the one calendar.  I now see there are others relating to Samsung, Google, etc so I tried checking those boxes.  I ended up with loads of (irrelevant) public holidays, so I unchecked them again.

I have tried ForceStop, delete data, and Resync - also in vain.

I shall be forever grateful if someone can help me get these data back.

Thanks

Richard

Hi, which calendar app are you using? Samsung, Google or other? Which accounts were you using with the calendar? Samsung, Google or other. Be specific please.

Please forgive my ignorance, I don't know.  I was just using the one that was in the phone.  I guess it is a samsung one.  I was previously unaware of any others but, as I said above, I discovered them and added them but it did not  bring back my own data.

I've just had a look in app settings and it says version 12.2.13.0.  Does that help?

Thanks. Sounds like the Samsung calendar. Ensure you have added your accounts to the calendar and they are toggled on.1723761501400_1723761501394_0.jpg

Thanks Robin, for the useful image.  Yes, I had tried that.  Above, I wrongly called it 'checking those boxes' - I should have said 'toggled those options'.  I just tried them all again, one at a time.  I did not bring back my data.

Thanks. What accounts was your old data stored in? Did you ensure the old data was backed up to the Samsung Cloud prior to xfer to new phone? Check your Samsung Cloud for any backups and restore them.1723816249083.jpg1723816249110.jpg

Again, I don't know.  Perhaps none.  The data was stored on my phone.  I thought I had backed up everything to my PC by SmartSwitch, then I used SmartSwitch again to transfer everything from the old phone to the new one.  It said it was Complete, and the Calendar app itself was transferred, but I can't find the data.

Thanks also for this screenshot, but I don't recognise this page and I don't know how to navigate to it.

The screenshots are from Samsung Cloud app.

Goto, settings>accounts and backup. Tap on Restore Data.1723824920991_1723824920984_0.jpg

OK.  It tells me there are 2 items in my calendar - I assume these are the two I've added since the problem arose.  Anyway, I ran Restore and my old stuff is still not there.

I am going to have a look in SmartSwitch again, to find a screen shot of what is available.

Sounds like you weren't backing up to Samsung Cloud, unfortunately.
