Before the update, whenever I wanted to send files from Galaxy phone 1 to Galaxy phone 2, I simply did this:
Select files,
share to,
select "QuickShare".
and there, I'd see my devices, greyed out or in colour.
As soon as I unlock the screen on phone 2,
on the display on phone 2, the icon for phone 1 is in colour and can be selected as recipient.
I just tap it, it loads a little and then phone 2 starts receiving the file, through the shortest line:
wi-fi if both were on wi-fi, internet if they're connected through different means.
NOW, it's far less efficient:
It won't show any devices, known or unknown and instead gives me a pop-up prompt to switch on Bluetooth.
Then, once Bluetooth is on, it will search for the device anew, whether they're known in the system's Bluetooth devices or not.
And whether the 2 devices are in the same wi-fi or not, it will use Bluetooth, which is slow.
The whole process takes longer, requires more steps and then the actual transfer is very slow.
Nothing about this is "Quick". If I wanted to use Bluetooth sharing, I'd have chosen Bluetooth as a means to share, not QuickShare.
It really shouldn't be called "QuickShare", with the way it works now.
Any recommendations on Wi-Fi direct sharing clients? Any workarounds to use WiFi, without having to set up a local server between the devices?
