Hi,

Can anyone help me please? Can anyone tell me what is causing this grinding noise? Had the machine 4 years. I thought it sounded like a belt slipping on a pulley, the drum was still turning and i’m able to rotate the drum freely. Thanks

Hey @klippertyk.

Does this happen on all cycles? Are there any error codes displayed when this happens? We have a guide on our website with some steps that you can try depending on the noise issue you're having. Please take a look here: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/home-appliances/why-is-my-washing-machine-making-noises-and-how-t...

Hi,

thanks for replying.
it was doing it on a cotton cycle.
On another inspection, the sound/vibration was coming from behind the waste filter flap. I ran the cycle to see exactly what was happening and the noise only happened when the waste water was being pumped. Everything suggests it’s the waste pump.

i pulled the machine out today and inspected underneath to see if I could replace the pump. I think I can as it’s easy access, but when we connected everything back up, we put it on a daily wash and the noise didn’t come back at all.

v strange to me.

It would be best to get this checked by our Home Appliance Team. You can reach out to them by phone on 0333 000 0333.

i’m looking to diagnose/repair this myself tbh. If it’s no longer making the noise, diagnosis would be difficult for an engineer no? There are no fault codes.

whats the warranty situation for getting this looked at or purchase date was Jan 2020.

Our washing machines come with a 24-month warranty, meaning your warranty has ended so any potential repairs would be chargeable. It would be best to get this repaired by a Samsung engineer as they know the appliance the best and will use genuine parts to complete the repair.

from video it sounds like the drain pump , especially as can hear the gurgling in the background (that's the water going down the sink/drain pipe)  - all you could try first is cleaning the pump filter, but it does sound like worn bearings on the drain pump itself.
Good luck getting it repaired.
