@Hall1: Please can you confirm the model number of your washing machine? This can be found on the sticker on the inside of the door or drum.
When cleaning the drain pump filter, water should not spill out of the filter housing itself if you have drained it successfully. If you take a look at the guide below, did you make sure to follow the steps laid out here before removing the filter?
