MC28 Microwave Start button issues!

Hi all.

This problem is way too much of a coincidence not be known about by Samsung, so I'm hoping someone maybe able to help!

Purchased a brand new MC28M6055CK combination microwave oven back in early 2021.

By September 2022 the start button had stopped working so it was unusable.

It happened in a very specific way : Firstly for a few months the start/stop (quick 3o sec) would intermittently work.

After that the button would only work once the time was set first - weirdly. So the button was clearly working and was more of an issue with the control electronics.

I therefore changed the main PCB ( DE92-02726H) for a new replacement. Unfortunately this did not work, so ended up buying a complete new microwave exactly the same in Feb 2023.

You know what happens next - The EXACT SAME has started happening again - Only a year and 3 months old!!

For this to happen to 2 units that I've owned must be one in a million - leading me to believe that this is no way an isolated issue and Samsung must be aware of it!

Any ideas anyone?! I'm happy to strip it apart and replace parts as required but I loath to waste more money not knowing exactly what is causing the issue.

Thanks, Ryan.

I have had this issue on my machine, the failure is due to a design fault causing the display diodes to become leaky and as the keyboard is matrixed with the display cause keys to stop working, replacing the display would fix the issue but the part is no longer available and the fix would be temporary anyway as it will fail again.

There is a solution but I cannot state it here as that's against the community rules. PM me if you want more.

Thanks for that Ifixedit.

I needed to update the post on here anyway as I have actually replaced the screen (Main PCB) and all is working well!

I found the part here https://www.espares.co.uk/product/es1876398/samsung-oven-main-pcb

I think the best way forward to make this last a bit longer is to just switch off the microwave when not in use- hopefully doing that will make last at least twice as long!

Just to add to my original post - I had originally changed the 'Key touch module' - NOT the PCB as I first stated.

Sorry for the confusion.

Just to clarify - after changing the Main PCB (with screen) the microwave was fully operational again as Samir332 suggested.

Thanks all and oh, Samsung, - of course this was carried out by a Samsung certified engineer.....

Hi, Glad you have it working again, must have been annoying buying a keyboard and that having no effect (its a very simple no electronics unit so very unlikely to fail)

I suggest you simply turn off the display whenever not in use (press the cancel button) as the leds won't get stressed then, seem to last about 18months on average otherwise.

Yes, i think it is a design fault, i have two MC28's now, only 2 years old, both have had start button failures and i did clean them, but don't have skills to repair.
